I honestly am shocked at how quick CCU has become an athletic powerhouse in multiple sports. Their campus is a fucking shithole located in the armpit of the Redneck Riviera and its populated by Pensyltuckian-Ohian hybrid students.

I didn’t know where Coastal Carolina’s campus was, but I saw your description of the students and correctly guessed “Myrtle Beach?”

(I’m the only Northeast Ohioan who has never been there.)

I visited back in July during our family vacation. It reminded me of the FCS school I attended.

Everyone I met in Murrel's Inlet, SC was from West Virginia. LOL.

Tashard Choice is leaving Georgia Tech for Texas now instead of USC.

So Drayton's departure to Temple opens up the RB coach spot and Lincoln Riley loses a coach.

Fine by me.

Lol for some reason CCU has become a popular destination for Long Island kids as well. I have 3 friends with kids there.

My parents own a house in one of the larger neighborhoods there and their neighbors are several households of retired people from Long Island. Lots of retired police and fire men.

Chadwell appears staying put at CCU and we'll see what the staff turnover looks like. Very curious to see where he may land a year from now. Georgia Tech, South Florida are two jobs that should make the 2022 hot seat list for sure.

Who knows what movement there will be by then. I am interested to see Chadwell take that offense to a P5 school. You'd better have some linebackers with speed.

Said it when his name was floated. This certainly feels like a mutual separation and not someone we should have been instantly after because Wisconsin was in his previous title. Hard to come back from Chryst taking back play calling and then at times lackluster OL this year compared to norm

For Va Tech probably decent calculated hire, there is the chance Mertz at QB brought everyone down. ACC DLs also aren’t B1G DLs

Sounds like Durkin is replacing Elko at A&M. Woof of a reality check for Lane and Ole Miss to lose most of the staff. Ole Miss must not be approaching/exceeding 1 mil type salaries for assistants.

I am surprised he stayed. I wonder if his endless streak of unprofessional behavior kept him from finding a better job.

They have a bit of a problem because they were recently paying four DC at the same time. They owed Wesley McGriff money through January 2021 and owe Mike MacIntyre through the end of this month. Those guys are both being paid what Ole miss owed them minus their current salaries, but Ole Miss was still on the hook for them.

This year, D.J. Durkin and Chris Partridge were making $700,000 and $625,000 a year through Jan. 31, 2022.

DJ Durkin spent a year with the Atlanta Falcons as a "consultant" and then got the Ole Miss gig as a global pandemic started. Now he's going to TAMU and has hit pay dirt yet again. I'm all about second chances, but Durkin really didn't have much of a punishment other than having some fake job with an NFL team for a year before he got back into the game. A Maryland player actually died, and this guy has been a well renowned meathead since he was a player himself at Bowling Green.

So the people having blowouts in their diapers about NIL for the players can go kick rocks.

This guy's stock really dropped. I'm sure he can land another chance somewhere, but man, he was a top choice candidate not too long ago.

Re-upping this since Rogue immediately back-paged me after posting it.

Yup What an awful choice Obvious no one good wanted the job

It can’t be that. This is Mack going to a comfort zone. UNC D is stock full of legit 5 star talent and has one of the best recruiters in the country on staff. Should have been a very desirable spot

Lol. Mack is in trouble

I remember at the beginning of the season I made mention Mack was not a very good coach and someone (Don't remember who) thought I was on crack. Few have done less with more. Really goes to show how having a superstar at QB like Vince Young can mean everything, they won that championship in spite of Mack.

You would think so, but never underestimate this good ol' boy network of goofs to dip into the recycling bin rather than leaving no stone unturned.

This seems like a bad hire regardless of whatever the circumstances were.

It's akin to Burnt Ends hiring van gorder. "Hey buddy, let's get the band back together 15 years later. We had success together before, and the game never changes."

The Mack Brown thing is weird to me. Guy won 77% of his games at UT and had their only NC since 1970. He's basically Lou Holtz of Texas and we built a statue of Lou. It's not like Texas was that great before him and they've been a bit of a train wreck after him. I get that he was never some offensive or defensive "genius" but he was the head coach and he won a lot of games. Which is what he was supposed to do.
