What is the "uniform surprise"?

If I was going to make ones for a game in Green bay why not dip back into ND history and do something with these? Are they great not really, but it could be fun to play around with some of the old unis most people forget ND ever wore.

Been discussed on twitter that these were made for last years Lambeau game to look like the packers. Check the uni, makes total sense. Another giveaway is that we are wearing home colors and Wisconsin is wearing away. It would of been a home game for us last year.

I don’t disagree they look like Packers jerseys, I said as such already weeks ago, but to be fair in terms of might be seeing something because the thought is already there, it’s not like the Packers invented and are exclusive to……stripes. Bears jerseys have had different sized stripes though the years. The throwbacks they recently had, the stripes are closer. The GSH over the stripes on some Bears jerseys resemble the ND logo being there

I just was introducing a bit of a devils advocate to it and pointing out the stretch from a Packers modeled jersey to a Chicago/Bears/throwback modeled jersey is extremely small since it’s so basic anyways

I promise, I'll stop talking about it (at least until week 1 ) but it might just be more obvious to me than most. Watch a night game on you tube from 2012 then say last years Clemson game. It isn't close. The lights and the Change from Hydro graphics to Velocity Chrome I'm positive is the issue.

Other than the numbers, they don't look anything alike IMO. No color around the neck. Stripes are totally different and higher on the sleeve.

This is correct. Packers themed uniforms that got repurposed. Look at their explanations for the connections to Chicago:

Sleeve stripes - Resemble the rivers & waterways represented on the city of Chicago flag.
Numbers - Represent the "City of Broad Shoulders."
Pant stripes - Direct nod (how??) to the 1924 ND team that first played at Soldier Field.

All laughably dumb.

The Bears also use very distinctive number font for their jerseys, yet these Shamrock Series are the exact same slab serif font that the Packers use, as you said.

Chicago is way more important as a media market for ND than Wisconsin, so I'm surprised they would risk insulting the intelligence of all those alumni and subway fans with these obviously repurposed uniforms designed to honor their most hated rival.

Here is my uniform idea.... someone needs to embed led lighting into the fabric and then whatever you want to show on the garment can be programmed in at any point. Have a base uni color and let the leds do all the work for details, trim, stripes, numbers, lettering etc.. If they can get 1000s of drone to form complex geometric 3d figures with coordinated lighting, they can do this.

Look up the Syracuse game after Tyree's long TD run when the team is all around him to celebrate on the sidelines. Lots of close ups thanks to the spider cam and it looks really bad.

Absolutley, this is the best look helmet wise, you can still go with a mustard pant or not. Can have more options for throwbacks. Whether its the lights, new distribitor etc, whatever it just needs to be fixed.

I’m actually surprised more have not noticed. I thought there was a decent chance ND/UA would get overall Twitter mocking once the internet discovered it. If they would have had ND in GB font the helmets that would have really taken it home

They generally save the red helmets for special games or big matchups.

They missed an opportunity to go with red pants, but I think they consider using all three uni colors to be "special" as well.
