I know he’s throwing against air, but it’s hard not to get excited.

Who knows what will transpire in camp, but I always felt Coan was the clear #1 after watching the spring game. The young guys have potential, but he was clearly more polished and composed, as you’d expect a P5 5th year to look. That’s why I’m also cautiously optimistic if the WR Corp can step up and the young OL gels.

Edit: Just watched that clip, love the hype man/coach comments in the background on every throw, “please push him out of the pocket!” Lol

It looks like he’s moving even better than Spring Camp. Physically he looks like an NFL guy and the arm strength is there. Where’s the kool-aid, I need a pitcher or two.

Can he read defenses quickly and make the throw? He obviously has the physical talent, can't wait to watch him against FSU.

Really excited for Coan. Think he will be a much different QB than what we are used to.

Was just coming here to post that. This season is going to be so weird with a QB that is tall and wants to attack all parts of the field.

Last time we had one like that was Quinn?

Please don’t forget Jack Coan was 9th in the country in QBR in 2019. Don’t think this dude forgot how to play football or completely stinks. Obviously he was in a bit of a sheltered role with Johnathan Taylor being the best RB in the country along with a very good OLine having the best center in the country. But the dude can play. He’s 6’3” 225lbs. He’s played at Penn State, at Ohio State, Miami (neutral), Ohio State (neutral), Michigan, and Oregon in the Rose Bowl. I don’t think FSU is going to be a place where he’s quaking in his boots outside of maybe the first series after not playing in 20 months. I think Coan will be solid. I’ve got more questions about the WR group, how Rees changes his playbook to suit Coan more, how the OLine will gel and how the red zone offense will look. I think QB is a concern but not a red alert and glaring hole.

I'm really not all that worried about our WR group as long as we stay healthy. Plenty of experience with Keys, Davis, Lenzy and Austin, but all but Davis have had injury problems.

But Coan will have plenty of options outside of WR with Mayer and Takacs, and I think Cane Berrong is ready for an expanded role, too.

Also excited to see Kyren and Tyree more in the passing game.

At the very least, it feels like we’re going to see them push the ball downfield quite a bit more. The question will be does it produce results. I’m cautiously optimistic it will.

BK has been kind of giddy in the pressers we've seen. I think the optimism is warranted.

Yea, pretty great story.

The story is going to get even better when ND runs the table, he becomes a legitimate NFL draft pick, and we finally win a playoff game.

Sorry, I think I mistakenly switched out water from my diet in place of ND kool-aid.

Now I really like this guy and hope he's the QB for the entire season. Best part, besides the wanting to go to ND when he's 11 yrs old, is the assessment of everyone that knows him that he just doesn't make mistakes.

With our talent that's what we need.

Why stop there? Lets imagine him going full Joe Burrow.

It could happen, we don’t really know what we have as a team. We know the pieces, but collectively this could be a championship caliber team.

I know I wasn’t initially feeling Coan as the starter, I wanted to see Pyne get his opportunity. However, after everything that’s transpired, all the dialogue between now and when he stepped foot on campus, I definitely feel a lot more comfortable with him leading the way. I’m excited to see what he and this team can do.

I'm going to be cautiously reserved given our track record with talented QBs that don't pan out as heady, high football IQ guys have taken over the depth chart...then again, Wisconsin is a decent school and Coan is a smart guy. This could pan out well.

Secretly I'm drinking Kool Aide for a successful season and I'm excited for a young guy growing up as an Irish fan as he gets his shot under center.

I don’t even think it’s a hot take at this point watching Wisconsin today, but I think he will have much superior numbers than Mertz this year.
