I believe Daelin Hayes will be on the field to rush the QB whether it's at LB or DE. Gonna line up at both with one goal in mind. Khalil Mack type player

I just got movement. MACKtion from MACtion

Obvious passing down rush end.

He'll also probably see time as a rush LB when we go three down, so:

DE: Rochell
NG: Jones
DE: Jay Hayes

OLB: Tranquill
ILB: Morgan
ILB: Coney
OLB: Dae Hayes

I like this idea. I like it a lot. Maybe Martini sometimes instead of Coney. I personally think Martini will be a major part of our D this year. He reminds me of a bigger framed Dan Fox

Per 247, Hayes has lost over 20 pounds and has dropped is body fat % from 21 to 12. Can you say "pass rush specialist"?

Not to pile too much pressure on the kid, but his shoulder holding up could be the difference between a 9 and 11 win season. That may be a bit of hyperbole, but I really think the pass rush or lack thereof will be the difference for us this year.

Not may be.

This team would win 9 with Tommy R QBing... using Baratti's shoulder.

Could he be our Von Miller?

If he can stay healthy I say yes!

I would settle for an average pass rusher. If he's Von Miller, then I'm not gonna be worried about 2018 at all.

Hopefully he gets more looks in practice with the first team, at least in sub package. Getting past Montelus playing OT probably isn't the hardest task.

I would say definitely not this year (meaning, to the success level of Miller). I was at practice today and I don't think he'll be doing that yet. I saw some great burst, but on many plays he gets swallowed up because he doesn't really have a second move to the speed rush.

On his sack today, he was completely untouched. What I loved about it was that it was a zone read, and he held his spot and made sure the RB did not have the ball, and then he used his burst to get to the QB quickly (along with the other freshman DE from MI on the other side) for the sack. We've all seen seniors completely bite inside on the fake hand-off, so to see a freshman stay home and then make the sack was impressive. Still, right now, he'd have to improve a lot to get to a really high sack level IMHO.

Damn Sherm, you know me, I'm an optimistic guy but we might want to slow down a bit. We've had 6 practices; Claypool is the next Megatron and Hayes is the next Von Miller. These are some lofty expectations to place on a couple of kids that have very little idea what they are doing right now. We have a lot of young talent and I agree that it's exciting. However, placing high expectations like this on them early, usually results in people getting frustrated when they don't produce "early" enough.

Like saying they have Ben Koyack potential?

I'm not gonna give him Von Miller expectations, but I do think his floor is Prince Shembo

If Hayes becomes our Von Miller, especially this year, we should go ahead and give Gilmore a lifetime contract.

Lucky is right. Expectations should be tempered with any freshman. Will he get playing time? More than likely. Will he dominate as a freshman? I highly doubt it. Until he develops, he will be used in situational roles, where his speed keeps guys off balance.

Question for you guys...

I heard BK talking about how impressive Daelin has been, and how he will be a "really good player for us".

Am i wrong in thinking that BK never really used to talk players up that much, especially young ones? (I may be wrong) So maybe this kid really IS THE TRUTH, and what we have been looking for!

Physically, when not injured, this kid is the absolute truth. You can go back and look at his Opening write ups where he was covering WR's... Opening level WR's and testing high enough as to make RecRep's compare him to directly to Jaylon.

So the question is, where along the Jaylon - Ishaq game time graph will he fall?

honestly thought we were gonna RS him this year, get his shoulders 110% ready for 2017...for a kid that has played a handful of highschool games with multiple shoulder issues I was hoping/thinking we would have been patient here.
BK not a patent man!!
oh well...

It's scary to think that he could be one or the other. I almost just wanna say find middle ground kid! Lol
