No need to get whiny GB. Don't be that guy. That was the only reason ever given to why he wasn't feeling ND, conflict in personalities. I just found it odd someone of your extensive membership bringing it up out of the dark.

But thanks, I did appreciate the bump as I mentioned.

Honestly I had no idea he didn't get along with BK. I don't think many others did either seeing it wasn't discussed in this thread. Sorry we can't know it all like you man. I'll run my info through you to make sure it wasn't been brought up yet.

After the past few days, it appears that most of IE is cycling together.

Just get past the next 4-5 days and then get back to getting along, ladies.

Very gunner Kiel feel too me the more I think about it.

Only reason I could see him not feeling BK is the fact that he coaches the QBs pretty hard and that might not of appealed to him too much

He may turn out to be dynamite, but at the moment, I'm with you. I saw his highlights on the sports almost every Friday night and he didn't look near what I would expect after seeing George, Grossman and Mirer in HS. Granted this was a small snippet, but his team was 4-6 and weren't even in some of their games.

All the accolades of being the best QB in his class and he was the second best QB in his own hometown. Brandon Peters was better head to head.

he's the Shane Morris of 2016.

Looks great physically, has a huge arm. All the measurables you could dream up in a QB. On paper he just has it all. There's a tiny little problem though. He's not all that great at the actual game of football.

His completion % last year was around 55%. The year before that it was 53%. Very Shane Morris like, who completed around 54% for his career in high school.

I think for top notch QB's, you want to see them in the 60's. At least. Even in high school. Accuracy and reading defenses will always be vastly more important to successful QB play than arm strength and size.

Did he piss in mom's Cheerios? Just wondering bc this is an odd bump.

He has been a stud in IN with certainly a lot more mobility then Morris. I'm just curious if you've heard something new?

Morris is mobile as well. He's not a statue, he can run. Johnson finished dead last at The Opening/Elite 11 in the rankings.

He didn't piss in my cheerios, no. I don't eat cheerios. I've always thought he was incredibly over-rated as a 5*, at one point he was rated among the top 10 players in the country, which was always obscene imo. He's a pretty mediocre QB with a ton of talent. Should be a high 3* or low 4*. He's a project. Not a finished 5* product. Not even close.

I do hate Clemson though. They are right up there with Ole Miss in terms of obvious filthy cheating programs.

LOL, he may not live up to expectations, but he's no Shane Morris

Morris is not even close to as mobile. Have you seen Hunter play an actual game? I will agree however that his passing does need improvement and he isn't quite up to "5 star status". Still damn good though, much better Morris. Keep in mind as well Brownsburg plays at the highest level of IN football and they aren't very good.

Still a weird bump...sure your mother's Cheerio's aren't a little more golden. Didn't ask about your breakfast.

The only thing I can see that unites the two quarterbacks mentioned is that I am extremely glad neither ended up at Notre Dame!

lol he is so much better than Shane Morris and how can you even compare him to Shane Morris? Shane Morris dropped over 60 slots his senior year and I know he had mono over whatever but every site thinks Hunter Johnson is a top 10 player and number 1 QB. He's an elite QB and his second best offer isn't Bowling Green

Hunter Johnson won the QB Sparq rating challenge with a 122.04 Third best QB score I've seen behind Jack Sears and Brandon Wimbush.

Johnson ran a 4.09 shuttle. Only 2 WR's ran quicker.

Say what you want about his QB skill set, but his athletic skill set for the position is top shelf.

For some reason, I'm not surprised. I hope he goes to IU.

Wow, I figured this would happen to at least one of the QB’s at Clemson. Like UGA and Bama, when you have too many 5*’s or high 4*’s in ur QB room then it’s gonna be hard to keep them all. Hopefully he ends up at IU like Arrowryan said.

I say this as a guy who's an alumni of UT, and who loved my time at UT: If you pick UT over ND right now for either football or scholastic reasons, you've been sold a load of horseshit and you bought it.

Quoted for posterity's sake... kind of crazy to think about how Tennessee had the dumpster fire of all dumpster fires between his commitment to them and now. Clemson was at least a reasonable choice in the end. Tom Haverford was also spot on calling him the Shane Morris of that class at QB... all hat, no cattle.

It seems like every QB we've lost (either thru transfer or a near signee) transfers at least once. WTF is wrong with our QB recruiting? Or is it just the nature of the position?

Johnson, Barnett, Kiel, Zaire, any others?

If he's sitting out a year from the transfer, can he really guarantee that Brohm will be there in 2019?

Nope.

You're one mishap away from a return to the 'Ville.

It's the unfortunate nature of QB recruiting right now. These guys come in expecting to be THE GUY, yet they continue to come into places that have another 4* or 5* guy that is only one class ahead. Then, the guy in front, lands the starting spot for the next 3 years... boom transfer.

Plus these guys are all coddled and told by coaches, parents, and recruiting "experts" that they are all the NEXT BIG THING, a CAN'T MISS PROSPECT! Big heads and all.

I agree. That's why it is kind of hard to get someone to sit behind PJ. 2019 is going to be an interesting year for us in the QB cycle.

QB is one of the few positions where if everything goes according to plan, the number two only plays when the game's in the bag, and once you get three-deep there's basically no chance of playing time at all. At a top program, you often have to wait several years for the chance to *compete* for an opening position, and you're utterly screwed if you get passed in the depth chart by a guy with more eligibility. And unlike other positions where there's basically only one starter (like kicker), schools intentionally recruit an excess of QBs.

But part of it is personality. I think it's possible ND, Alabama, Ohio State, etc. attract people who are enamored with the idea of being THE guy at THE school, and were that guy in high school. Going from a 5* QB recruit with huge national attention to sitting the bench 2-3 years is a hard pill to swallow.
