just b/c they run spread doesn't mean they don't teach technique. he's just mad that he has to teach them west coast, hand in the dirt technique.

Kyle Long seems to have done well for himself coming from Oregon.
Actually Daniel Jeremiah was just saying the other day that the air raid/tempo systems (think Tech) don't teach technique because the linemen just need to go fast and be in the way of the defense.

I hear what you guys are saying.

I guess as a coach of a spread offense I take offense to it.

gruden was talking something similar on one of his QB camps where he ripped guys in spread offenses.

you'd be an idiot to not try some of the stuff colleges are trying in the college game. yes it will not work in the NFL b/c of the speed, but they coach college not NFL.

Daniel Jeremiah didn't insult the spread coaches; he's a scout so he explained why guys like Le'Raven Clark would be picked so high.

I'm on team Hackenburg. Big kid. Did well in the pro-style when he was allowed to play in it. Stuck with Penn State commitment despite the stuff that was going on at the time. IIRC, wasn't Penn State basically an FCS team in terms of scholarship numbers when he got there? Might need a year or two to get his confidence and stuff back.

mme too. hes my sleeper qb out of the whole lot of them...(including wentz and goff who I think are WAY overvalued going 1 and 2)...i'll be keeping my eye on hackenburg and who takes him.

thinking he goes much earlier than the pundits are saying.

Not a big Henry fan either. He would dominate in Dallas, but he has 0 lateral quickness and I just don't see him being that great being a normal OL.

conventional wisdom seems to be that Stanley}tunsil due primarily to his versatility: can play Right tackle or left.
hearing nfl scouts don't think off field issues really matter with tonsil (wont lower their stock on him.)
if Stanley goes before him its because of on field ability/fit....and not any of tunsils off field "issues".

If you could take Elliot at 13, or Derrick Henry at say, 45, would you take Henry? I would all day. I don't think Elliot is significantly better. I'd take another 1st round talent and try to get Henry in 2nd round.

Heard this morning that no one is near in the same area code as Elliot. Along with his running ability, they stated he can pick up a blitzer and stand them straight up like no other back. Also said his ability to catch the ball is much better than any other RB.

ND OL are highly respected in the NFL along with Bama Stanford and Iowa. Cant remember the coach who said it last year but he hated all the spread offense for not teaching OL technique

I've heard the same thing discussed on the local sports this morning. Also cited why most of the Nebraska linemen back in the heyday didn't pan out in the pros. Said they were great run blockers but struggled to pass block. Obviously Dave Rimington is an exception.

I swear I get a "Johnny Football" vibe (to lesser degrees, but still) from that entire family...

On Mike and Mike this morning the question was asked to Mike G....who was the last ND player to go in the top 5.

Mirer in '93 then Lyght in '91. I really hope Big Ron changes that in an hour or so.

He will.

Tunsil is solid but I think Stanley will be the first to go.

2016 NFL Draft

Seeing all these kids in suits smiling and excited makes me want to give Jaylon a huge hug and repeatedly whisper "it's not your fault." Feel so bad for him.

If only Jaylon were healthy. Hopefully Ronnie can go top 5 though.

I get there's a lot of action on draft day, but the first pick should never take longer than 3 seconds when a team already traded to get it prior.

The Rams made the better choice I think. Neither of these guys are worth these picks.

Goff could end up being a pretty good qb.

Wentz will bust.

Kiper says the Browns better draft a QB.... Fvkin why?! There isn't a QB in this draft that I can see,! Let's just draft QBs until rapture and pray while ignoring every other hole.... So over that line of thinking, it's exactly why the Browns are where they are.

That's the only situation where a RB is good that high. Elliot behind that OL will be silly.

Who would have taken Elliot before Cleveland? Why not trade back?

WTF. Seriously. Can't wait to hear "my account was hacked, that's not me" and Ole Piss fans saying it's an elaborate conspiracy perpetrated by Miss State.
