If it ends up with no commitment it is still worth the effort. Just getting in to a school in LA - Lower Alabama - is a win for the Irish. I am sure some relationships with coaches were made as well as some contacts that may very well end up getting the Irish at the front of the line with the next recruit. Can't sign 'em if you ain't willing to go where they are at. Kudos to the Irish staff for trying.

I would agree if this was a full class, otherwise I find it useless. Similar to Fresno. We've invested a ton of time and resources to have literally zero results. That'd be a poor business model.

They know that they have no shot at Davis, but are maximizing exposure of the use of the truck to get the attention of other recruits.

Why not?

Drive by Malcolm Askew's HS next in McCalla followed by Alex Troxell's in Madison, AL then finish at Trey Smith's in Jackson TN. Tomorrow morning, be waiting for Ty Chandler when he gets to school in Nashville and then for Jedrick Wills when he gets out in Lexington.

Then do a drive by at Cathedral in Indy on the way home.

Opportunity. Use it or lose it.

JR Sandlin? Is that you?

Some potentially unrealistic but I like the ideas you've had the past few days.

But tomorrow is Saturday!

I agree - drive by as many high profile recruits as possible.

Don't ever become self employed because days only have numbers, not names when you do.

Saturday would still work for the Madison, AL visit. His school has a McDonald All American presentation for a MSU commit and then a basketball game. Bring on the rig!!!

Such a recruiting violation. ND1 should have either tried to push through to South Bend or push it there. They shouldn't be allowed to get fuel in a recruits neck of the woods

I bet it was fun driving that truck through Tuscaloosa.

Blake Barnett waved.

Inspired by Harvey Updyke, an unknown Alabama fan tried to destroy the truck with regular gasoline instead of diesel, but made a critical error when he poured it all over the tires and ground beneath the truck instead of actually putting it in the tank. The Gumps had the last laugh, however, as the school's valedictorian publicly dragged his nuts on the trailer. "It was totally worth it," Jim Bob Diggins said, as he was dragged away by the Tuscaloosa police to think about what he'd done for five minutes before being released into the custody of his cousin/wife, Becky Mae.

Good thing Jim Bob and Becky Mae done had them nine children. The oldest son Wilber is rumored to be a helluva wide receiver and credits having seven fingers on one hand as the main reason for his success on the field.

I love it! Nothing better than a Western KY "Yankee" down in the deep south calling out the locals! LOL!

You know what would be ironic. If ND pulled a coast to coast show with ND One and did go all the way to Fresno, via as many recruits high schools as you would imagine, and then they got pulled over by some state safety enforcement officer, and upon inspection found their logbooks out of order!

Actually, this isn't as far fetched as you would think. For a time my purvey included managing the logistics of a fleet of delivery vehicles on a large nation-wide installation project. If trucks are used to routine runs, and out and back for a football game anywhere would count as routine, "leave on Thursday, back on Monday," variation almost always leads to overutilization. And overutilization of drivers is a no-no.

Hopefully, one of the coaches has his CDL and papers, and can help out!

ESPN had a blurb about him picking that didn't even mention ND as a hat on the table. Could be lazy reporting but TIFWIW.

Said he was going with his "gut" tomorrow. That got some of the Bama nation in an uproar and started predicting a R. Evans type announcement where he spurns the obvious choice for the arch enemy. Maybe the Irish get lucky and he snubs both Bama and the Barn.

I mean, that would be pretty swell and all, but I think you are safe with this one lol.

Feel pretty confident but NSD always has some sort of drama. I will feel much better when it's over.

Drama? If you're feeling any anxiety whatsoever right now, you're going to have to go on meds when Saban's done. You've arguably had the best recruiting class every year for 5 or 6 years, and it's a coin-flip whether you win the NC every year.

The only drama is when some other school offers Saban $10m to leave, or a player forgets to keep the money secret. But neither have caught up with the Tide yet.
