Giants are doing pretty well this year right? I think if BK win's 10 or more this year he is outta of here.

I have thought that all along too, but there is a part of me that thinks his ego won't let him leave unless he gets a Natty.

I really don't see BK as a pro coach... but I didn't see Chip Kelly as one either so who knows.... I really also doubt BK would build this thing all the way up only to let someone else win his natty... but again, maybe he is our Butch Davis...

im sort of the opposite, I see BK as more of a pro coach type actually (personality, ego, etc) and chip as more of a college coach type.

that being said, DO WANT BK to stay at ND!

prediction: if Tom Coughlin isn't the Giants head coach next year...it will be BK.

I keep seeing people say this and it makes no sense to me. The Giants have not hired a college coach going back to at least 1980 or something. Possibly never in modern history. It is a top 5 job in the NFL. They are going to get someone with NFL success.

Bunch of stories out today about Richt being gone at Georgia. The amount of openings this year is going to be absurd. Going to be a really rough time to be in the market for a coach. I'm going to have to get a new thread started... it's just so rare that you have this much movement by mid-season.

Latest rumors of Harbaugh to Indy would be pretty great/hilarious though.

Word here in Georgia is that powers at UGA want Richt to clean up the coaching staff where there has been some friction. Shottenheimer hasn't been very good at OC, new OL coach hasn't impressed and DC Pruitt rankles some people in the program. Richt still has the support of the AD and president plus the athletic board. In the 15 years before Richt UGA won 64% of their games and zero SEC championships. In Richt's 15 years they have won 74% of their games and played in 5 SEC ch. games winning two. And the SEC now is much tougher than it was before Richt got there.

After a few years coaching pro ball, then Kelly will be saying "I'm sick of dealing with these millionaire prima donnas. It was so much better in college, when it was just about kids playing for the love of the game."

If thats what he wants...he'll need to coach a Div III college team...

If thats what he wants...he'll need to coach a Div III college team...

The vast majority of college players including Div 1 of the 10or 11,000 that come to play each less something like 200 will see an NFL paycheck.

Black Irish's quote is a paraphrase from Lou Holtz's termination pressed from the NY Jets. Holtz noted he knew how to motivate college kids but didn't have a clue as to how to motivate NFL millionaires. (Broadway Joe closed more bars that season than he closed out games.)

Keep in mind that was based on his being a head coach at William & Mary and NC State. How many of those players ever sniffed an NFL paycheck?

At Arkansas he took a 16 point underdog in a Orange bowl game against Switzer's Sooners. Holtz All-American guard was lost in practice. Then a day or two before the bowl game he suspended his two leading RB's and his leading WR for team rules violations. (The violation later was learned to involve a naked woman in a player's room.) Talk about motivating college athletes, behind a patched up Oline the 3rd string RB ran over the Sooners for more than 200 yards.

Years later Holtz suspended Watters, et al for showing up late for team meetings before a game with USC in LA. Holtz sent his suspended players home by plane before the game started. The Irish won without the stars just as the Hogs had done.

Holtz used to give his players written tests on the history of rivalry opponents.

He took his players to a hotel the night before games and them them visualize making great runs, touchdown stopping tackles, ... positive reinforcement.

He stamped his W.I.N. Philosophy on HIS TEAM. W.I.N. ... What's Important Now.

Try sending NFL players home, written test on rivals, W.I.N. ...

"Yo coach, I'll get back to you on that play. My agent is setting up a multi-party call with our lawyers and ny union rep about that play violating my contract. We'll make it quick as there's a crew standing by to film a commercial and my business agent's waiting to discuss the franchising deal."

Shottenheimer--is going to cost them some bucks to fire

oline coach was at like mcneese st or some low level job...his 1st year there--he is getting canned

pruitt as you said has been said to clash w/ not only coaches but the athletic program

I would puke on myself if that ever happened.

(but I'll gladly be happy to steal some Bama recruits)

If USC and Georgia both came open this year - along with very good jobs like Miami, SCar & VT - there's a whole lot of coaches going to get paid this offseason.
And any major coach who jumps to the NFL - presumably in January - is going to be leaving his program in a deep hole to catch up.

Would Kirby smart get the job then?

I would hope not. There would be a push by some to bring Dabo home but I would stay clear of him as well. I would take Fuentes over either one. But something tells me that Nicky isn't going anywhere.

Where is he from? I doubt jerry Jones II would give saban the power he wants.

Really? Dabo's a pretty good football coach, even if he'd be a personality shift from Saban. I haven't followed Memphis closely. Why would you rather have Fuentes?
Doesn't really matter though: I agree Saban's probably not going anywhere.

Dabo rubs a lot of the Bama nation the wrong way. Don't really know why other than the fact that he has constantly wined about not getting any respect at Clemson. Which is odd given he doesn't have a great track record against elite opponents. He better ride the wave this season... I still am not sold on Clemson just yet - that offense is suspect IMO. As far as Fuentes, I think he has shown the ability to win and he relates with the players - maybe due to him being young for a HC. I don't know if Bama would give him the keys to the car however. Our luck he ends up at Ga if Richt walks and he turns them in to a power house program. Saban - he could walk if everything works out and we all know that Colt's owner is nuts... but he does have a lot of money. Guess we will see.

waiting for BK to get to the pro's and remark that his Eagles/Giants squad are lacking kids with heart like Tommy Rees and Joe Schmidt

If I were anywhere near a top tier college coach, I wouldn't touch the Georgia job.

Why did Pruitt ever leave FSU as D-Coordinator?

different sources have said this: he always liked Richt and wanted to coach w/ him, wasn't money as they basically matched him what he was getting and that the area in athens was better plus he was closer to his home town by 180+ miles
