UGA has to move on from Richt. To much talent for this team to underachieve every year!

He could help us recruit Hampton Roads. We have never done well there and that area is loaded with talent.

I know he is a good coach but other then that I don't know a ton about him. What style defense does he run?

March Richt has won 10+ games in 9 of his 15 seasons at Georgia and has only one season of 7 or less wins, They have finished in the top ten in 6 different seasons. How can they do better than that? They may never win a championship with Richt but they will never be an embarrassment either. He hasn't underachieved considering all of the injuries they have suffered to key playmakers in the last few seasons (Gurley, Chubb are obvious examples).

Not to mention there is a certain 5 star QB named Eason coming to Athens next year. If Richt isn't there he won't be attending UGA. Georgia fans want to win a championship like all fans but they want to do it with Richt as HC. Remains very popular here.

He seems like an awesome guy and great to play for. I hope for nothing but great things for him as long as it doesn't come at the expense of nd

According to the 247 guys is that Eason isn't going anywheres. I just don't see him getting canned.

In a way MR's erosion of fan support is due to his own success. In years 2-7 at UGA, he won the SEC twice, won the SEC East 5 times, finished in the consensus top 10 (both polls) 5 times and the top 5 twice. For better or worse, that was the benchmark used for him going forward. Since the conclusion of year 7 at UGA (2007), his eight years have produced 0 SEC championships, two eastern crowns and two consensus top 10 finishes. Not bad, but clearly not up to his previous record either. Yes, the West has certainly gotten stronger since 2007, but with the talent UGA has he should have one SEC championship during that time.

Since Tebow graduated, UGA has two east titles. However, they allowed Mizzou to capture that last two east crowns, where the east wasn't exactly thriving. Injuries or not, UGA should have won both considering the division.

At ND, my belief is that ND should have at least two 10 win regular seasons in a five year period and I suspect UGA would feel the same way. After this year, UGA will have two in the last 7. If the shoe were on the other foot, I would suspect most here would be growing weary of MR. I would give him one more season to see if he could win the east and/or win 10 regular season games.

It's also important to remember that UGA has never been this massive, year in year out contender... they had a few runs in the past but you certainly couldn't compare their history to other southern schools with equal-ish expectations...

I know the Georgia job would be very high in the pecking order (though below USC in my estimation) but unless you really need to clean house this sounds like a bad offseason to be in the market for a head coach. There are already a lot of openings and those programs are progressing way ahead of you in their searches.

Plenty of high caliber coaches would line up for the Ga job if available. And a big reason why I think Kirby let it leak that he is interested in Va Tech. Use that as possible leverage for Ga and/or S. Carolina. He would jump all over Ga if given the chance. But again... I don't think Kirby would be a hugely successful HC.

What high caliber coaches? UGA has been down this road before. Since Dooley retired they have hired three coaches. Ray Goff, only because they couldn't get their top choices. Then Jim Donnan who was HC of Marshall. Then Richt, Bobby Bowden's OC who had never been a HC before. I think this FEldman report is basically nothing more than white noise.

Jacob Eason isn't coming if the two men responsible for recruiting him are both gone. Mike Bobo left for a HC job and Eason said as long as Richt is there he'll be in Athens.

There will be plenty of high caliber coaches that would jump at the chance to coach at Ga. With all the in state talent there is in Ga... simply closing the border down would guarantee a top 20 class each year. Then the fact that you have talent rich Florida right next door, you can always get 2-3 recruits from there as well.

As far as Ga getting rid of Richt. I doubt they do. But the question that has been coming up more and more recently is whether Richt himself wants to continue at Ga. That is a much more interesting thought IMO.

High caliber coaches is a very general term. I'm not sure they get anyone better than what they already have. I know the president and AD want him there and if they get to 8 wins that won't be a problem. With Eason coming in and Chubb back along with a young defense I don't see Richt leaving the coaching profession in the near future.

A high caliber coach will want to come if no other reason than to get into the SEC.

prediction: if Tom Coughlin isn't the Giants head coach next year...it will be BK.
