If USC and Texas were to both open up, Chip Kelly could become a very rich man.

UnderArmour says to Chip Kelly at the end of the year when he gets canned, "Here is a brinks truck, but we pay in Gold Bars, where would you like it?"

I would love to see Chip in the B1G butting heads with Urban Liar and Jimmy H. Not sure he would be excited about trying to recruit for Maryland.

Sark record through a season+ is now 12-6 .667.

Kiffin was 28-15 0.651

It's early in the Sarkisian Era but global warning is approaching Sepulveda Blvd.

Brian Kelly was 11-7 through 18 games...

Its not like Oregon was a hotbed of talent. He ended up with kids from FL, TX and the Midwest (not to mention CA and HI). Where ever he goes he will recruit well.

Maryland's AD has financial problems. That was a major reason it moved to the B1G. The only thing that could fix that problem is if UA floated the bill, but UA isn't the behemoth that Nike is. As such, paying big money for another coach isn't something the current administration will do unless some major donor foots the bill.

Kevin Plank has financial problems? News to me.

Different times, different fanbases, and different expectation levels. ND was coming of Davie, Willingham, and Weis. Most of our fans were too young to remember the glory days. USC fans still remember the glory years of PC.

This and SCum was still getting 5* players even under the penalty era. We got some good players, but not the same caliber.

How long before Mark Helfrich(Oregon) is on the hot seat?*

* - The average Oregon Duck fan/booster thinks that college football started with Akili Smith, and that Oregon has ALWAYS been at the top of the college football world.

If I were the Georgia AD I would go after Whittingham.
I understand and think he'd be pretty good there. But do you think he'd go? As I understand it, Whittingham is LDS and may not want to leave Utah.

I initially posted this in the southern cal thread but thought I'd also post it here: I think it's safe to assume that Sark will never coach at southern cal again. I know Trojan fans want Chip Kelly, but anyone speculating about who will likely be their next coach? Just curious what others may be thinking.

Beats me. If that were the case I would give both Kingsbury and Harsin a serious look for young up and comers. Maybe Cutcliffe for a more experienced guy.

Southern Cal has an enormous budget so they can go get an established coach if they wanted to, but Tom Herman would be someone I'd be calling tomorrow morning. This season has shown how important he was to Ohio State's offensive success, fans really miss him in Columbus. He's 5-0 at Houston in his one year of head coaching, but hey--he's undefeated!

He also happens to have grown up in Los Angeles. Throw in spending ten years coaching in Texas and it's a coach who will run one of the best offenses in the country and can recruit Texas in addition to the spoils of southern California.

But I guess I doubt USC takes another riskier gamble with this hire. The last two didn't work out.

I feel bad for Sark. Had respect for his coaching abilities. Also thought he'd do the USC brand some good. Always came off classier than cheaty Petey and Kiffen (until recently).

He could have beaten ND a lot worse last year but he pumped the brakes...the previous two USC guys...No Way. Would have been a 77-14 debacle...

I hope he puts his life back together...

I think Hayden is also in deep crap...so maybe he will be back in the ND booth by this time next year...lucky us.

I also feel bad for Sark, I can't imagine the stress of running a program like USC. Expectations are always sky high, you recruit nationally, you work crazy hours and you have to deal with Media and Alumni. I think it's a catch 22, you want a young guy who is hungry and wants to run hard but I think you need time to learn how to juggle all the demands. Hopefully he can overcome this because I agree that he didn't feel like a slimy douche bag like is predecessors.

Anyway....beat SC. We need some payback for last year!

yup, never wish divorce or substance abuse on anyone. Never impressed with him as a coach though. I think Hayden's seat is getting very warm.

The drinking issue seemingly started around the time his marriage fell apart. Sark's going through a divorce. That with the pressure of being the USC head coach probably isn't a great setup for someone with addiction tendencies.

Could you imagine the that style of offense with the kids USC would pull ewww. But Miami could be just as good of a location for chip.
