Could you imagine Notre Dame making the playoffs 2-3 times out of the next 5 years at the expense of the ACC? How would the football alliance with the ACC hold up to that?

Even without Notre Dame, the ACC's likely to lose out more often than not. Aside from Florida State and maybe Clemson their programs just aren't that good on a national level, so a one-loss won't get the benefit of the doubt like the SEC and Pac-12 will. And yet as a conference they have enough parity that it's harder to run the table than in the Big 12.

Man Clemson is getting on my nerves so far. Such an unjustifiably arrogant program and fan base. I hope we rock that f**king team.

Honestly if ND joined ACC as regular member I think we would have an easier path. We would start scheduling bullshit games OOC and roll.

For sure. That conference is two good programs and a bunch of tin cans. But what's the point?

reading the clemson board, and they pretty much think the crowd noise alone will destroy ND let alone their NFL squad that ND has no chance against

I will usually browse some opponent forums the week leading up to a game to get a better feel for the team and the mood of the fanbase. Like ND, most teams have a few active forums, each with a distinct character. From what I can tell, though, Clemson's internet fanbase consists almost entirely of low-down, dirty anti-Papists. I've seen multiple posts on multiple sites trying to organize people to disrupt ND's hotel overnight. Seriously? I hope you folks in South Carolina know Clemson fans with redeeming qualities, because I haven't encountered many online (with the exception being /r/cfb).

Dear Clemson, your corny stadium entrance isn't intimidating and no one cares about your blarney stone. Plenty of stadiums are loud for big games, so try to act like you've hosted one before.

They'd just beg harder for us. I'm feeling really good about this game. I think we come out and lay the hammer.

i am definitely feeling the same vibe. ND always plays well in these big night games under Kelly away from home. I just don't think Clemson will have anything in reserve once ND punches them in the mouth. The emotional well that ND has to draw from this season is just way way deeper than anything Clemson has right now. I read an article that Clemson is planning on wearing new chrome helmets on Saturday. To me that sounds like they are trying to use every trick to psychologically motivate their players because they know they are nervous about facing ND.

ND by 14+ thats still my prediction

Well it will at the very least burn a timeout before the first play.

I do the same and yep I agree their online fanbase seems to be full of idiots bar some decent folk on r/cfb. They are definitely overestimating the strength of their team. I haven't heard any kind of "oh im worried about our X/Y/Z against ND" which makes me think they aren't very humble sort of folks.

How refreshing: Fans that have full confidence in their team, and like to speak highly of them, to the point of hubris.

*Im taking notes, and will follow suit after our big win

USA Today's Dan Wolken just published an article titled "Have a problem with Notre Dame's schedule? Put a blemish on it":

great article...just read it. I also got a flavor of the fan forums. WoW...classy.

I would love to hear how ND fans are treated in "Death Valley". I'm guessing there won't be any stories about how classy and nice the Clemson fans were.

Dabo...good hell son...We ALL know you want ND in the conference....but if this is how you think you get that done...man...I can't imagine how you got your wife. You and all the other bitch boys...have some self respect...its just awkward and embarrassing.

What I haven't been able to figure out about Saturday night :

Most Clemson fans concede that their offensive line is somewhere between "lackluster" and "poor." I know they have talented offensive skill players, and their defense has a good record this year against Louisville and Division 1A (Wolford and AppState.)

But isn't AppState the team that Michigan crushed to open the '14 season, and used as proof for the thesis that they (the Wolverines) were going to crush the Irish? But isn't their a real historical problems with looking at a teams results against lower division opponents?

It is interesting how so many Irish fans have noticed an air of arrogance among the Clemson fan-base. Let's see, didn't the other Irish opponent with a supremely confidant, if not arrogant fan base, formulate all of their logic around their team's results against lower divisional opponents? And how did that work out?

The other thing is I don't know how to interpret Clemson having 16 days between games. I can't for the life of me imagine how long that must seem, once the season has already started. I know a lot of people see having a week off as a positive for game planning, etc., but unless you are far enough into the season to be able to use the rest for banged up players, doesn't a bye week break cause more players to go stale, than anything else? I know ND does not do typically great after a bye week, but I wonder how other teams do? Anybody have numbers on Clemson over the last five to seven years?

To be honest, I don't think there will be much hostilities toward Irish fans. The treatment of visiting fans in most venues in the south are pretty much myths. Yes there is an occasional fan or two that show their as*, but that is commonplace at most any venue.

I have been to every SEC stadium and find the fans to be accommodating and realize that the one or two are just that... usually drunk and just jaw jacking. LSU on a Saturday night will test your patience a bit but you learn to ignore it. Plenty enough other fans that are friendly that make up for it. Never been to Clemson but would expect the same.

Pretty cool that you've been to every SEC stadium. How would you rank the stadium in terms of nicest, and secondly the 'home field advantage'?

isn't this already planned out by the coaches each game??? it seems we wait a while to come from the sideline...then they jog out w/ less than 20 sec left...finally getting close to setting up...then we look around for a while while the def moves around...the clock is now nearing 10 secs....qb continues to look around meanwhile the camera crew now focuses on BK and him giving the get the f#cking play going...but then i see the clock now down to 1 sec and a timeout is taken....BK is shown in talking w/ qb that he is pointing to the clock...rinse and repeat MOST 1st plays from scrimmage for the Irish under Kelly

I personally like Ole Miss the best. The Grove is pretty sweet and the campus is old but historical. The home field advantage goes to LSU on a Saturday night. Them folks are crazy and the way the stadium is built it's like the noise just freaking echoes. Their stadium is not so nice and needs some updating. Vandy has the worst facilities IMO even though the Nashville area is sweet. The Aggies stadium upgrades are unreal and they will probably have the best stadium when they get done - even though they apparently are hosing their season ticket holders to pay for some of it.

Good stuff, I'm jealous. I'm planning to go to the 2016 Bama vs LSU game at death valley next year. I'm obviously Irish, and my friend is Buckeye, so we're going to visit NO and take in our first ever SEC game just for the experience. Would be awesome if you and your wife were there to tailgate with!

Be on the lookout for Alize to have a good game. Watched the Louisville game last night with my brother - the middle was wide open for a chip-block then 8 yard route right up the hash-marks..... it was open EVERY time on pass plays.

Kind of ironic that Dabo is trying to argue fairness when this "magical" 13th game was created by the conferences to make more money at the expense of the "student athletes" that Dabo says he cares so much about.

Well you picked a good one to go to then. If I go I will let you know. Also, can't remember the poster out here that's from La. He could probably give you some good info on NO itself. I don't stray too far away from the French Quarter when I am down there.

It's funny that you say that, I've been to every SEC stadium before the conference expansion and I thought Ole Miss was very overrated. Them and Georgia are both very meh to me as a stadium.

Also the Grove is average to me.

Said every SEC fan in the last decade about us...
Here's the thing about "SEC fans"...f**k them. Unless you are an Alabama fan, a Florida fan, an Auburn fan, or even a LSU fan you don't have a lot to be arrogant about either. You don't get to be a fan of some choke artist program like UGA or Tennessee, or some bottom dweller program like Vandy or Kentucky and puff your because other programs in your conference are good. I'm not impressed that you got smashed by Alabama on their way to the NC.

As for ND fans...yeah we can be a little arrogant but we're fans of the most important and prestigious team in CFB history. Also, we've at least been to a NC in the past few years. As for Clemson, I'm not impressed with their 1 national title from 1981. I'm starting to see that we might be playing the UGA of the ACC. No wonder I have such a natural hatred.

I agree that the Ole Miss stadium is kinda meh. Ga's stadium as well. I don't know if I would call the Grove average. Guess it's all in what one is looking at...for. LOL

I always found the SCar fans friendly. They just seem to be having a good ole time and very inviting. Same with UT fans. They love their Vols and even make a Bama fan welcome. Plus a short stay over in the Smokies make that trip complete.
