Where's the clip of Parker putting Gary on the ground?

There wasnt a play where Gary ended up on the ground. The play before Gary made Parker look like a child. Lol. It shows Parker's competivness to come right back and give it back to Gary.

Parker didna lot better than I expected but as previously mentioned, the consistency in pass pro isnt comparable to Kraemer right now. Thats the diff on why Parker is rated lower and Kraemer is one of the nations elite. Not a knock on Parker. He had a damn good week.

The play that Parker and Gary come to a stand still, on video, is because they were supposed to. That was a simulation of a run play. Come head on and try for leverage. Either stand the either one up of extend arms so you can make a play. In that scenario the DL is actually at a disadvantage because he can't disengage and get after a ball carrier. Nobody won or lost that rep. It was what it was.

See, and that is the point. Kramer, though he only did an 85 on his SPARQ, which is pretty outstanding for a lineman, has been exhibiting nearly flawless footwork this week. The first day they said he had some adjustment to make for the speed of the defenders, but everyone was having a problem getting around him.

You saw Parker's wins, and he won big when he won. But he also lost some BIG!

Kramer didn't get rocked once, which shows maturity and good technique.

Also Kramer plays longer and bigger to work around, where Parker seems to have the drive off the ball, down.

Apples and oranges.

I am thinking that Parker took the rep entirely away from Gary. When an offensive lineman "stalemates" a defender like that it is the biggest win possible less a pancake. Gary's frustration showed, and he threw Parker down after the play. They had to keep Parker off of Gary, and Gary really looked like he didn't want anymore of that!

Really hard to make this conclusion for the reason above, Parker versus Gary. Wasn't the same reps as before.

FWIW, that was the rodeo drill that we've all come to know and love from UND.com videos ex the RB coming out of the backfield.

Raise your hand if when you played football that drill was called the Oklahoma drill. Just curious if my name for it is regional (Tennessee).

Good to know. As an OL, that was my favorite drill. We had something else called the "Impossible Drill" that we did far more often that I hated, because it felt impossible to win. Oklahoma was one of those drills where if you whipped your man well enough, the running back could toy with the linebacker so it felt more evenly matched.

Played in New Hampshire (boarding school so we had some athletes--NH public school football is pretty damn weak), and it was the Oklahoma Drill even up there.

I think Parker is a better straight ahead run blocker today...needs to work on his footwork for the pass blocking. He's going to figure this out and we are going to love him!

Yes, everybody, it is the Oklahoma drill, but it's not completely uncommon to be given a different name (especially in college) due to it being named after another university/school.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one and wouldn't be calling it the wrong thing my whole life.

We called it The Nutcracker Drill.

And our head coach and his brother went to school with Don Shula at John Carroll. Our head coaches brother was a sportswriter at the Miami Herald , and so our coach went down and brought back the Dolphin's practice.

NFL drills for high school kids. You would always hear, "That's not the way Czonk runs it!" Or, "You don't see Larry Little pulling with his head that far up his ass!" Or something like that.

But the worst drill by far was gassers! Sprint across the field, back, across again and back. 220 yards of sprinting with three pivots in it. I still hate those (even the memories!)

It was called the Oklahoma Drill in NJ in the 50's in Pop Warner ball when kids were learning football fundamentals.

It was made popular by legendary OU head coach Bud Wilkinson. A college QB, Wilkinson started his career at Syracuse as a Line coach in the late 30's. After WWII he became Line coach at OU and a year later HC. He won 13 straight conference championships and a couple of NCs. Along the way he had a 47 game unbeaten streak stopped by ND, 7-0. Coaches scrutinized his coaching and training to learn from the master.

Originally the drill had a row of blocking dummies on each side of the OL and DL to force them into attacking/defending a rushing lane. As the game evolved the dummies were removed to reflect the wide open spaces of today's pass rush.

Worst/most fun drill we had was called Glen's Circle. It was named after our offensive line coach. Everyone formed a circle and two entered (Think Bull in the Ring). However you just went at it. No ball. No rules. No offense or defense. You just wrestled/fought/tackled/whatever it took to beat the other guy until the coaches blew the whistle. We would do that at the very end of the last practice of camp. What a way to get the team fired up, and for bragging rights the whole season.

Oaklahoma drill in central PA...I liked it. I liked bull in the ring...but my favorite was the gauntlet...both offense and defense. They line up five defenders single file about five yards apart. You get the ball in front of the first guy in line...coach blows the whistle, and you crash into each in succession. Go until each tackles you or you run him over or drive him into the next guy...fumble, and ya start over. By number five your legs are on fire...but you find out real fast who you want to have the ball 1st and goal, and who you want on the field on defense when the other team has it first and goal.

By the way...I like Boudreax's anger...he wants to beat some ass...so yea he is gonna whif now and again...Heistand will control it...but he gonna be fun.

Honestly how long would Parker have to wait to play at ND? junior year?

In '18, I'd guess barring injuries and transfers / decommittments it's Bars Nelson, Hoge, Kramer, Eichenberg (or Eichenberg, Kramer) left to right which would mean '19 is the first year Parker could be a starter with Bars, Nelson and maybe Hoge leaving but he'll have to find his place with a combination of (maybe) Hoge, Kramer, Eichenberg, Byrne, Mustipher, Ruhland, (Maybe Tillery if he switches back), Gibbons and all the other recruits they bring in, which will be an impressive list in 2017.

When will he play? Depending on what that means probably starting in '16 in some limited back-up duty.

With the depth that's there and development he needs on pass blocking why would they burn a year of eligibility as a Freshman in limited duty?
