I wonder if any players go to uconn??

I was surprised that Lo Wood didn't go there instead of Miami of Ohio.

somebody please think of the Heggie

He really should go to one of these schools. He will leave with a ND degree and get to play.

We are going to be able to sign 30 kids by the end of this mess. lol

maybe that is a more telling sign of his level of play not going to where his DC went....maybe he felt he had a better shot w/ miami of ohio

early rumour was that he was headed to Georgia Tech, seems like he valued playing time above all else in choosing to go to Miami

GAIII would destroy the MAC. That would be a good move IMO if he feels like his time at ND is over.

Chuck is bringing in some good, experienced players for next year. Glad to see it - I hope he does well.

Damn we have lost all our grad assistants with the exception of maybe Grimes

Miami (Ohio): Sources tell us Notre Dame defensive grad assistant Corey Brown will join Chuck Martin's staff as defensive line coach. We reported weeks ago that ND offensive grad assistant Pat Welsh was joining Chuck's staff as well. Sounds like Notre Dame will be bringing in all new grad assistants... Additional sources tell us that Citadel safeties coach John Hauser will join the Miami Ohio staff as defensive backs coach.

Mark it. If Rees isn't on an NFL roster come fall, he will be a grad assistant for ND.

it makes sense for those GA's to go, its easier to catch on to a full time role at a small school and you probably get more stuff on your plate each week.

Oh...I understand and wish them luck and further advancement...just beginning to feel like our GA's are ghosts that just turned blue and Diaco and Martin are Pac Man and just chomped the pill!

TR would do well to go away and be a GA, then come back as a position coach.

Coaching is a business of contacts...he has ND, Kelly, Martin et al. covered. He needs to go spend 2-3 years in another system...make new contacts. If I were TR, I'd be trying to get with Kstate, Oregon, Oklahoma, or even Bama as a GA.

Wonder if Spond would be interested in a GA role? I think he would be perfect. I remember Stockton expressed interest in a write-up a while back but I don't think his future is in coaching.

I agree. Spond has already shown he can coach up younger guys. Makes a lot more sense than Rees IMO. Although no reason it can't be both.

This whole thing appears to be pretty carefully coordinated to me. I think that all the moves were coordinated through Kelly from the get go. Jones is the clincher for me. If there were a position at ND on offense, I believe he would have gotten it. But I think Kelly had in mind to move Denbrock forward and bring VanGorder in months ago. I think Kelly set up one of his coordinators for a HC job this year for sure, and maybe both. (Some reports were the DC's package wasn't that sweet; with 20-20 hind sight, why?) New guys will do okay. And Kelly has certainly treated his former coordinators well! What an incubator SB is becoming!

Why do you say that? Tommy was an important factor in Golson's success. You saw Tommy talking to him and going over slides after every single series. Everett himself said that Tommy was one of the most impactful people to his success. I think Tommy earned a massive amount of respect when he provided that type of leadership when he was still able to play. He has been a leader on this team for 4 years, I think that if the NFL doesn't answer the phone, he will be here. That's just my opinion from BK's remarks and Tommy's past comments about possibly wanting to coach one day. Plus, Tommy already comes from a coaching background because of his father. He grew up around the game.

He would be an ideal fit for the offensive GA next season, imo.

Good for Chuck! This guy came in with Kelly and did whatever he was asked, with no dissent. I think this guy took a lot of undeserved heat, when the hiccups with Kelly's program were elsewhere.

I believe Chuck Martin will be a fine head coach.
