I love ND as much as the next guy, and this is all opinion of course, but for the sake of conversation I'll throw out one last argument.

Top to bottom their depth chart is full of 5 :s: and 4 :s:

Our #1 wr (and top ranked by the services) is a composite 4 :s: (by a sliver) overall #276

Now, I know stars only matter prior to getting the kid on the field. But saying stars don't matter is like saying money can't buy happiness... It might not but it sure doesn't hurt.

I'm not saying I don't like our wr corps, or that I'm not happy with how we have identified and developed underrated talent. I'm just saying ask most objective, informed outsiders which unit they'd take and I'd be willing to bet 9/10 would say FSU.

I get where you're coming from, but I think that's too much weight given to FSU based on potential and recruiting.

ND's top-5 returning WR's: 3,006 yards combined, 26 TD's last season
FSU's top-5 returning WR's: 1,614 yards combined, 10 TD's last season

FSU has higher-rated guys, but ND's unit has more proven talent returning. That's what I value.

FSU has better skill players. ND has a better OL. Given that Golson has shown no ability to throw comfortably/attack the middle of the field from the pocket it seems like the former would be better for him.

Get outside the pocket, throw it up to guys that will be torching weak ACC secondaries. I could honestly see him winning the Heisman against FSU's crappy schedule.

I think Winston is a gamer and we should have beat them last year. We'd beat them this year if we played them.

When it comes to the opportunity of winning the championship we have to look at this:

Texas State
South Florida
Boston College
Wake Forest
Miami
Louisville
Georgia Tech
Syracuse
Clemson
North Carolina State
Chattanooga
Florida

OR

Texas
Virginia
Georgia Tech
UMass
Clemson
Navy
USC
Temple
Pitt
Wake Forest
Boston College
Stanford

(Bold is shared opponents)

Which one gives you the better opportunity of making it into the final four?

Stars matter but not as much as production and experience, IMO. Fuller had a mere 20 receptions less last year (76) than the combined career reception totals of their three best receivers, Wilson (45), Rudolph (38) and Lane (13).

Fuller, Brown (39 receptions last year), Robinson (40 receptions last year) and Carlisle/Prosise (combined 52 receptions last year) give ND a clear edge in experience and production.

I agree, the noles are talented and may have more potential but it's young and relatively unproven. Losing Greene and O'Leary will make it tougher to find space as well. These two were doubled often leaving open space for the young guys to work. And they were almost always working on a weaker corner while Greene was locked up with the opposing defense's best corner.

Theirs, easily IMO...

Yep - not how much talent you have, it's how much better is your talent when compared to your opponents. FSU has much better talent against their schedule opposed to ND talent versus our schedule. IMO

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you think ND will be better than 7-5 this year...

I do and I'll put up any amount of cash/bank I have at the end of the Stanford game that ND is 8-4 or better. Bet on, I'm putting it in my sig.

If Golson starts he'll be a Heisman candidate entering week five. That's a nice start for them.

2015 WR class best yet under Jimbo Fisher

ND is going to pound the rock behind the line and Golson would have split reps with Malik. Not a recipe for production that is going to wow the masses. FSU will be pass first to an army of over sized speed freaks. Two five star WRs? That schedule and those receivers, all EG has to do is close his eyes and chuck it deep.

I turn the page as he is with a team I care nothing about and have little respect for. This guy will most likely light it up with these guys-like I said better talent than any QB at ND in many years. I'm not saying he'll be a good pro but I for one would have like to have seen him pulling the trigger for the Irish this year. My question has been answered as to why he left-I think he knew the decision was already made.

I would put our CBs way above FSUs with the graduation of Darby

I would put our OL way above FSUs

I would put our WRs above FSUs

Prior to Golson, FSU had nothing in the tank QB wise

I dont know on RBs or TEs.

DL I give FSU. LBs I probably give FSU since we have one pro quality LB with experience

Deer God, pass the kool aid brotha. There might not be a more talented roster in college football then FSU. But glad to know we have a top 5 roster

The Irish played them dead even last year, they sent 11 put of 15,eligible players to the NFL through the draft. ND just one. Are that sure there 2nd and 3rd stringers are better than ND's experienced starters?

FSU had a lot of nailbitters last year, just like we did in our NC season run. They won 7 of their games by 5 points or less. Lose Jamison and they are a .500 team last year. Bama the year we played blew everyone out and then blew us out. FSU had no right being in the final 4 last year based on performance in 2014 and would have lost to any of the top 4. I cannot see this year's FSU team will be as good as last years. And last years team should have lost to worse ND team than this years.

This is not true. They lost a ton to the draft. Next year, when they have a 5 star at (I think) every position on offense, then yes. This year, not that they will be bad, but they're hoping not to lose more than 2 games.

Further, I'm not in any way comparing ND roster to FSU, either. Just the talking about the state of theirs.

Given Russell returns as he should, you havearguably the best CB tandem in the country.

FSU lost pretty much their entire OL. We get back pretty much everyone including a future top 10 pick in Stanley.

WR, we have A LOT more proven commodities with talent on par with theres.

I can't really make any more calls since I dont know what FSU has at S and DL. Not to mention I have to type this on my xbox since my laptop broke.

FSU has recruited as well as anybody over the last few years so they are going to be loaded with talent but they don't have a lot of production coming back. Any talk of FSU at this point is really projecting players based off very little college play. I imagine that in time those 4 and 5 star kids will be very good but they'll have their setbacks.
