If that's the case, BK should've been playing him sparingly all season. If you think you'll only get 4 years at best from a kid, and you think he's good enough to contribute in some fashion even as a true freshmen, then he should play.

I get that it's a tough call to make. You'd prefer to redshirt a DL or OL, but they've raved about this kid for awhile. And if BK really thinks he'll bolt to the NFL at first chance, then it's my opinion he should've been playing all along. It's not a secret that the DL hasn't been great this year.

Agreed

True in a sense, but Redfield has looked objectively better than how Tranquill performed last week which was below the level of a starter for any power 5 team.

Here's the facts. He's the best we have. He got benched. As a fan idc what the reason is. Get his ass on that field as the starter.

Whatever he did or said obviously isn't bad enough to suspend him, or else he'd be suspended. Therefore, I think it's safe to operate under the assumption that whatever we're talking about is relatively minor. That said, this decision punishes the team and the fans as much as it punishes the kid. Make him run laps in practice or something, but don't jeopardize your team's chances of winning (unless, like I said, it's bad enough to suspend him).

This has to be off the field issues. Max had the one play against ASU - and I do think he was gun shy about hitting a QB that close to the sideline - but other than that he never shies away from contact. The back end has struggled some in being in the right place, but not to the extent of making this big of a change.

Where's Jimmy Mac? We need boots on the ground to get to the bottom of this!!

This is what separates coaches from fans. Fans only see the need to win. Coaches see wins as a byproduct of a system that includes discipline, practice, attitude, preparation, performance, etc.. They want to see all of those things out of a player and if they don't, then they decide what direction to take. You may see it as hurting the team, but the coach sees it as the player letting down the team.

Yeah. Don't get the Redfield situation. Really don't get the Shumate situation. Neither has yet played up to their potential, and we've had communication issues on the back end all season. But they're our two most athletic safeties, our highest-ceiling guys. Unless there's off-field/disciplinary stuff going on we don't know about or something, we're better off playing them at least some.

Cold rainy day = running the ball = we couldn't even stop Northwestern's anemic running attack = we lose by 3 scores. I think something like 24-41.

Sad to say, my hoperism and homerism have no reasonable cogent refutation to your predilection.

I'm on to planning and salivating overT-Day. Family, friends, food, drink, fun and unsubstantial football argument.

Such a deal!!!

Kelly will try to go vertical today. I see a 28-17 Louisville win Golson remains confused by shifting defenses.

i feel like BK trying to air it out, be ultra aggressive is almost disrespectful to the defense. The D's confidence must be rock bottom right now, they need to be protected and their snaps limited as much as possible. Run the ball.

I'm going to do it...

I see Utah all over again. Special teams actually does something today. Louisville is over confident and thinks they'll have there way with us.

BVG chills out today and plays a little more straight up. I think it will do us some good.

So many of IE may not think so, but the Detroit News thinks we will win.

Important to get the run game going early, and it would be nice to see our TE again. I see other teams throw 4-6 yard passes all day long that turn into 9-20 yard gains, can't we do that?

I think we do an ok job with this. I would like to see some 2 tight end and 2 RB formations just to make them think.

Hoping that the offense can stay on the field for some long drives. Way too many 3 and outs and then seeing the defense give up tons of yardage.

There's no way we lose this game.

The team and staff have their collective backs against the wall, and can either:

A) fight like an injured wild animal to get out of the abyss

or

B) curl up in a ball and suck their thumb until the season is over

*Im going with A, although day games at home scare me. I'd be more confident playing in their house at night, sad as it sounds.

Henry Rollins once said he gathered his strength and inspiration from Black Flag's Nervous Breakdown album cover. Every day he felt like the guy fighting like hell to get out of the corner, and it fueled him. BK better feel the same way:

I want to see more of this too. Bleed 'em slow. But I think we don't see as much of this because Golson has trouble seeing the middle of the field over the line. So he's constantly scrambling and flinging to the sidelines.

Question for the page?

Is Notre Dame soft?

I can't think of a punch you in the mouth type of player on the team.

was it me, or did Corso sound drunk

I don't even know where to start with Corso, that dude is something else. He needs to just come on for the pick em'. he's worthless outside of that. Actually, I take that back, he's good for a F bomb or something hysterical from time to time.

I think he is an old man freezing his ass off. Wouldn't blame him for throwing down a couple of shots of "anti-freeze" in am attempt to stay warm and to put up with the other clowns on the stage with him.
