If Stanley continues to improve I can easily see him go in the 1st or 2nd round. While Martin and Watt got the attention last year, Stanley had himself one hell of a season and was arguably our second best offensive lineman.

I will say so far this year he looked less comfortable at LT than he did last year at RT. Still a lot of room for improvement but he's a stud.

What does that mean? That he might be one of the three best NFL tackles in his current class, but would fall below that in the draft? Then wait, right?

he thinks he is the 3rd bets tackle in the draft but
he might not be the 3rd tackle picked.

I don't know about that. Every single expert I read had Martin as our best o-linemen, followed by Watt and then even younger Martin (for some analysts). I definitely agree that he has the most God-given talent, but last year was a learning year for him, and while he was pretty good, I don't think personally that he was better than Watt.

Unfortunately this is another learning year for him. Next year could be his breakout year (or perhaps the 2nd part of this season).

He doesn't get nearly enough love on here. Think he might be better than Zack Martin was at this point in his career.

His Mom was at the Phoenix game watch last night along with his younger sister. Very nice people. Don't be surprised if his sister is a future student athlete in South Bend someday soon.

Yes, and I love me some Zach Martin. Quietly scouts are falling in love with Ronnie Stanley. Thanks to Ironman I know this, but I would say Stanley's ceiling is much higher then Martins. Not sure if he's mentally as there as Martin was. Either way we will just keep throwing left tackles in the league for the next 10 years

Hello Friends. According to one scout, Stanley is the best OT in College Football.

2015 NFL Draft: Matt Miller's Scouting Notebook for Week 10 | Bleacher Report

— Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson has been impressive this year. As one general manager told me this week, "If he keeps playing like this, he won't have a choice but to come out." Golson is a second-round projection right now, but a weak quarterback class and a big need at the position could push him up the board.

— Redshirt sophomore Notre Dame tackle Ronnie Stanley hasn't entered my Big Board yet because he's a junior that I didn't expect to consider the NFL draft this year, but he'll be making the jump soon. Stanley, according to one scout, is the best offensive tackle in college football.

Also has Stanley going #13 overall in his mock.

Ronnie Stanley, LT: +6.1

Breakdown: A third straight positive grade for Stanley in our featured games this season, he has not surrendered a single pressure in any of the games we have reviewed against Stanford, Florida State and now Arizona State. Also earning a positive grade as a run blocker, Stanley added some power when the Fighting Irish ran his way, though that was rare (15 runs right, 8 runs left).

Signature Stat: In our three featured Notre Dame games has earned a +13.9 overall grade.

Was just discussing this with a buddy of mine. If he keeps this up, I don't see how we keep him through his eligibility. He's been snuffing elite D-Linemen this year.

A '15 NC run isn't even a thought without Stanley.

Eligibility goes through '16, yes? I think he stays next year for his senior (academic) season and then enters the draft with his degree. There's no reason for an NFL-caliber athlete to stay in school for a fifth year when he's already graduated.

I don't see it. He's just not generating the buzz on the draft boards. It doesn't help that the offensive line, as a unit, has looked dreadful at times.

I agree with you, but he's getting some very high praise from NFL draft analysts already. If he receives a 1st or 2nd round grade after this season, he may very well bolt.

Oh I agree. One of the PP mentioned "keeping him through his eligibility," which would be two more seasons, not just one. My main point was that '16 is pretty much out of the question.

I hope not. But, after watching Zack Martin I think he will stay atleast next season.

You mean other than the mock draft posted last week that had him 13th overall, the tweets from earlier in the year saying he was a top 3 OT, and the fact he didn't allow a single hurry this past weekend?

Exactly. My friend was asking me if I thought he'd stick out his eligibility, but he was thinking 2012 had already counted as a year.

Before we start filling our pants, keep in mind that talking heads can talk all they want but if NFL teams don't feel the same way about Stanley it's all moot.

Plus, the teams who need a LT may like 4-5 other guys better. That would push Stanley into the late 2nd/early 3rd round. I'm not saying this is the case, but there is a lot of time before the draft. Nobody had Greg Robinson on their big board last year at this time and he was drafted #2 overall.

I read back through his thread from September through now. I am not a good evaluator of OL so I am asking for some help from you guys that know how to do this. I have not been impressed with him and must be missing something. I went back through a couple of the games I still had DVR'd along with yesterday's game. There are several times he just plain gets beat on the outside due to what, IMO, looks like slow footwork. If anyone is able to watch the game from yesterday, you can see it on the play where Golson was hit and NW intercepted the ball and then returned it to the 3 yard line before Fuller tackled him. It happened a couple other times but I got too frustrated and deleted the recordings before I decided to post. I don't expect an elite OL to never get beat but I have seen this a few times in almost every game this year. That does not seem like a top OL in the country. What am I missing?

Obviously he graded out at or near the top of a few services as shown above and I knew he was having a very good year but like you was surprised that it was excellent. I'm talking about this very fact and the distinct possibility that he's gone after this year (if indeed he is the top LT available in the draft) when he gives up a near sack last night... I mean at the exact moment we are having the conversation at the table. One of those crazy coincidence moments.

Great left tackles are rarely seen because when they do their job the camera is covering the glamour aspect of the play. You have to admit, they don't spend much time talking about Stanley on TV because he is taking care of business.

I get the strike while the iron is hot mentality, but IDK that I'll ever understand kids leaving after 3 years (unless graduated) and coming to ND in the first place. Why not go to a football factory where all you have to do is focus on your craft? Someone choosing ND over everywhere else should understand the value in staying one more year and getting the ND degree over chancing it in the pros.

Yes, he could finish his degree later. But we know that does not often happen (not to mention, that cost comes out of pocket).

Good luck to him if he takes off! Hopefully he stays and graduates.
