Love his film, offer list is pretty poor but whatever.

I noticed he had really low stats last year, something like 19 tackles, 2 interceptions, 10 pass break ups.

I wonder if he wasn't so good that teams simply didn't throw his way, and that caused him to go unnoticed by other programs.

One article I saw said he had 30 tackles, but that could be off. Either way, I imagine he wasn't the CB other teams picked on, and he had to play both ways so both probably factored into "low" stats. Remember how much energy Jaylon had to exert being the bellcow RB for his school?

No, there is no mystery recruit. The recruit is Elijah Taylor, he apparently committed to the staff last weekend and is waiting for whatever reason to make it public. Per everybody.

The legendary silent verbal. Always works out well.

Awesome - love his versatility.

And keep bringing in the SW Ohio guys. Would love to be the go to school for the Cincy - Dayton area. It's loaded with talent.

This is a commitment I'm excited about but don't want to sound like a homer. His tape looked good and even though his competition was poor, he was a very fast reactor. He saw something unfolding and took action. On offense, he made a lot of people miss and appears to have really good change of direction. Hopefully he can stay on defense, as I expect our offensive possibilities to increase once the season has commenced.

Just watched the highlights. How on earth is this kid only a 3-star?

I know CB is the toughest position to scout but this kid certainly seems to have the hips and the quick twitch to play the position.

If the offensive, defensive and special teams coaches all liked him, then I believe it is a no-brainer. You take that player and we did.

Welcome aboard, Nick!

ND would normally make these types of kids wait on a committment in the past to hold off from bigger fish. They would kill it with other teams after 2-3 years of developing and it made you wonder why ND never accepted their committment.

Sorry if it doesn't make any sense. I've been studying for midterms all day and contributing when I can.

First tape of a '15 recruit I've watched. I have no clue how to evaluate the tape. But, he looked fast, quick feet, great reaction on the ball on D, and quick cuts up field on his runs.

Welcome Nick Coleman! If MSU offered him that's plenty good for me. I wish he was a little longer but that's Ok.

Sounds like OSU was also gonna offer him this weekend but he popped for ND

Did Russell have tape where he played DB?? Or are you referring just to the offensive portion?

If he did, it was a very small amount of defensive plays. But yes, Coleman is a similar running back to Russell IMO; hopefully he is a similar cornerback as well

I love having him on board, he looks like a real steal, but having an OSU offer would have been the cherry on top.

What a great pick up. Nick squared at the corners down the road...I guarantee this is our last year under 85. I think we have very little interest in 5th year guys next year. Maybe 3-5 and they better be earned not assumed...

His tape is very similar to Russell's high school tape IMO.

Coach D on ISD actually said the same thing, so I think you have a good eye. Said he's a touch less fluid but a smidge faster than Russell. Said he thinks this is a great pickup.

Pulling him from Urbie before his OSU visit (and possible offer) is enough for me.

It will be interesting

Daniels I would think goes to the NFL
Golson I think returns but I suppose he could go NFL too

Then u got:

Carlisle
Hanratty and Hegarty at OL
Hounshell and Springmann at DL
Grace, Councell and Schmidt at LB
Hardy and Farley at DB

Daniels I would think goes to the NFL -- No doubt

Golson I think returns but I suppose he could go NFL too -- No doubt

Then u got:

Carlisle -- Maybe

Hanratty and Hegarty at OL -- Yes and Yes (5th year OL are always welcome)

Hounshell and Springmann at DL Yes and Yes (Same deal as OL)

Grace, Councell and Schmidt at LB Yes-Maybe-Yes(Grace and Schmidt are warriors, you need that. It will be interesting to see how Councell performs this year)

Hardy and Farley at DB -- Maybe and No

It's early, but maybe a 5th yr thread is needed.

I think the youth movement motivates a few transfers that allows a few more 5ths

My 5 if golson and dd leave:
Carlisle
Hegarty
Springman
Grace
Councell

Per TJ,

A quick add-on comment on Coleman: BVG didn't get a chance to watch his videos until fairly recently, while on the road nationally for spring evals, but once he did, he asked why we hadn't been pursuing him with an offer already much earlier. Really likes this kid as a man CB with outstanding athleticism, movement skills, competitiveness and natural CB instincts. Offensive staff also really likes him as a SlotWR/APB prospect, too. Coach Booker loves his STs potential. Sums it up.

Glowing to say the least. Sounds like the staff feels like they got themselves a steal indeed!
