Because Coon asked in Hilliards thread. Rosen left today. They were reporting him staying and it made Lorenze look like silly.

Rivals update about his Michigan trip. Was hoping not to like it but did. Said "It was awesome." Coach Nuss really hammered the pro-style vs. spread and why it would benefit him. But, here's the good part. I'm pretty sure I'm going to stick with who I originally thought of but this makes the decision harder. Went on the trip so he could vindicate staying in California to others.

Is it bad that I feel like Michigan was the stripper that got used during the bachelor party. One last guilty pleasure, haha.

Further cements what some have been saying for awhile. This is TJ responding to why Stanford didn't make a move on Rosen.

No. Stanford passed for reasons of fit and personality (some would say character) off the field.

Not surprising, really. Great QB prospect, but....

Why does him commiting to UCLA cement that he's a jerk? Confused

I heard that he once saw a picture of a cat on the interwebs and didn't even smile. David Shaw stays away from that aisle.

It has nothing to do with him committing to UCLA. Just what quite a few have noticed and commented on. He's arguably the best recruit in the country so I found this interesting. For Stanford to pass on arguably the best recruit/QB in the country they must have been pretty turned off.

As a quarterback prospect, how is Josh Rosen any less full of himself than Jimmy Clausen? All that early media attention, and the kid with the golden arm shows up at the College Football Hall of Fame to announce(to anyone foolish enough to listen) that national championships are in Notre Dame's future. And, why would Notre Dame allow him such a stage?

Those were dark, desperate times.

Perhaps this is why Shaw is not a big fan of Rosen.

ESPN analyst and Elite 11 head man Trent Dilfer had some praise and some strong words of warning when evaluating 247Sports Composite five-star QB Josh Rosen during The Opening in Beaverton, Ore. Dilfer thinks the UCLA commit has all the tools, but being more open to coaching would benefit him as he moves to the next level.

“He looks what people think a quarterback should look like,” Dilfer said. “He’s big, he’s strong, he makes the very difficult look easy. He’s super, super smart, but I think it is almost a curse for him. Josh is a guy who has yet to buy in to what I am preaching. He’s still a guy who keeps telling me how they do it at John Bosco.

“It’s funny because I’ve sat him down, I’ve complimented him on how much he knows. He definitely understands defenses, but what Josh has to learn before the takes the keys over to a major college program is that it’s not about knowing more than the coach, it’s about doing it the coach’s way. And that’s something hopefully we’ll see in the next few days because he has one of our best coaches in (former NFL QB) Charlie Frye coaching him and if he was wise he would listen to what Charlie tells him.”

Rosen finished ranked 11th in the final Elite 11 rankings which measures how each QB performed in all aspects on the camp, from the Elite 11 QB camp through the 7-on-7 competition in The Opening.

Meh. We don't know the full context here. Was this a case of truly being difficult or basically understanding that this week really has very little to do with his success from this point on and is treating as such?

How does this kid figure into UCLA's offense? Watching Hundley the last two years he had to use his legs quite a bit. Is Rosen fleet of foot?

How does a week competing with some of the best recruits in the country while getting coaching from some expert QB analyzers have "very little to do with his success"? Why did he even go if he had no plans on using it as an opportunity to get better?

I was not referring to his personal performance at Elite11. Dilfer said he needs to listen and not believe that he is smarter than the coaches. He basically said, with kind words, that he is a prick.

Sorry, I can't blame the kid for not wanting to do it Charlie Fry's or Trent Dilfer's way. What if "their way" was something completely different than what his HS coach wants him to do and he doesn't see the value in changing things for one week to change it back? I don't know and neither do any of us. We weren't there and there is important context missing from that quote.

But let's say he was a total prick and was giving Charlie Fry and Trent Dilfer the big F U. Do you honestly think that his success as a college or NFL QB is in any way impacted by what those two think or say? You think they have any insight as to what Jim Mora is going to want from this kid? Frankly, I don't.

As to why would he go then? Who knows. Maybe he wanted to hang out with some kids, get some swag and be on TV. Maybe he wanted to recruit or just play in the 7 on.

I can see it from both sides.

Personally, I would take the coaching, do everything they said, and buy in for the week. There's no point in being stubborn/douchey/difficult when you're with the best talent in the nation, with NFL-experienced coaches.

On the other hand, this kid's first concern should be his own high school team, and winning games this coming season. If that means keeping in mind what they teach him at Bosco and consistently reverting his comments back to "this is how we do it at my school," I can't really blame him. He's keeping the coaching he'll be getting for a full year in mind, and that's probably his "comfort zone." Of course it's good to get out of your comfort zone, but I could see how anyone might get uncomfortable with relearning things you've been coached on a specific way for three years.

Of course, it is entirely possible to do either without being difficult.

Maybe he was a prick to Dilfer and Charley Frye.

But what if what Dilfer was telling him to do is something completely different than what his HS coach wants him doing? You expect him to change to what the almighty Charlie Frye thinks for the week just to revert back? Or even worse, what if he continues to do it at the peril of pissing of his real coach?

Like I said, context is important here and we are missing quite a large piece of the story to jump to the conclusion that he is a prick that doesn't listen to coaching.

Again... why in the hell did he sign up to get training (after all, these things are about getting better) from them if he didn't respect their opinions? If he went to just hang out, then he shouldn't have wasted their time. There are plenty of talented QB recruits that would have killed for a week of tutoring from Fry and Dilfer. His disrespect of those two is a huge sign of his character. How do you think this kid is going to react to coordinators or trainers, etc? You think he will just do a 180? I certainly don't. If I have to take a side in this, i'm certainly going to go with Dilfer, who has coached hundreds of kids at QB, than some punk 17 year old that came and wasted everyone's time.

You don't think Charlie Fry and Trent Dilfer know more about QB mechanics than his HS coach? Really? Also... if there is a coach that means the least to this kids development right now, it's his HS coach. That's water under the bridge at this point.

Kids got the talent no doubt, but his massive ego gets in the way. These coaches are trying to help you, put your BS aside for a second and listen.

It's about being coachable......some kids can, and some cannot. How well he listens to Mora and his OC, and potions coach in college wI'll be dependant on how well he can lead UCLA.
