What the fuck does this even mean? Like Manti Te'o and Everett Golson? I would understand that.

But at the same time, anyone with half a brain looks at the numbers knows that Kelly is doing a fantastic job of getting kids who want to be there from signing to graduation with a meaningful degree. What is Oklahoma's excuse for the fact that the MAJORITY of their players leave OU with NOTHING to show for it?

Wouldn't be surprised if OU brought up DS either. Would be wrong and out of line, IMO, but I definitely wouldn't be surprised by it.

By itself this doesn't mean much though ... our staff is still confident ND is getting Juju, and literally no one else is saying that.

I think it's only Loy now lol, but very good point. Probably just different sources for different people. Also real hard to predict landing spots for certain kids if they are telling two different staffs the same thing, which happens a good amount of the time.

That's exactly what I would do in Stoops' position. You have to think that the GSR figures are a pretty powerful factor in ND's favor, so how does OU counter? By emphasizing the "stability" of OU's program vs. the circus of controversy that constantly surrounds ND.

Stoops is in his 15th year as head coach of OU, and he's maintained a higher winning % than anyone else over that period. And I can't even recall the last serious controversy that OU's program was embroiled in, while 2013 was an endless parade of bullsh!t for the Irish.

It's not a strong case, but it's probably the best one Stoops can make. And I could definitely see it working given the strength of the relationships involved here.

Trey Metoyer got kicked off the team this year for masturbating in public. Thats pretty bizarre if you ask me.

Stoops has had more players arrested at OU in the last five years than Kelly has though... so Stoops is full of crap.

X2. It's all a perception thing. My guess is that his mom doesn't follow football like we do. But I guarantee you that she knows about Manti' gf hoax and Everett getting kicked out. If she didn't, then i'm sure OU coaches told her. Our incidents have been major news stories and they have happened with regularity over the last three years.

We can come in with GSR, school rankings and graduation rates... but OU isn't going to just lay down and die. They are going to fight back.... and our seamingly endless array of media dumpster fires just simply will not go out. So that is what they are going to use on us.

I knew I was forgetting a recent one. Still, that single incident vs. all the stuff we've been through recently? And how much media coverage did that even get?

Agreed, in a way ND is a product of how popular of a brand they've become. When something weird or messed up happens here its going to be a headline all over the country. OU has stuff happen all the time that nobody hears about.

seems like should be an easy counter for us. we hold everyone to a high academic standard (see 99% grad rate) and along with that comes some lumps. if we didn't (see 47% grad rate) we would have no lumps to talk about like ol bobby stoops

Which is what's comical. We've got ammunition... facts, academics, $$, #s... but Wooly really nailed it. Perception is reality.

Lennay Kekua was the biggest laughing-stock non-sanction, non-criminal scandal ever? Declan Sullivan was a tragedy. Kicking your QB out of school for academic misconduct grabs far more headlines than the majority of your players not leaving school with a degree. And the list goes on and on. So obviously, Stoops is going to play that card. And for a kid who was at one time questionable to meet NCAA minimums for academics, stability on the football side of things + relationships probably wins out in the end. But it'll be close.

Could you imagine if one of our players got caught touching themselves in public??? Talk about an endless stream of BS. I follow OU fairly close and today is the first I heard of it. The ND name is ceratinly a double edged sword .

My favorite part of the story was the OU coach's phrasing:

"He's going through some things right now," said Norvell Oct. 1. "He's trying to get his hands around it. And so we just wish him the best as he works his way through that." - See more at: SoonerScoop.com - Trey Metoyer charged with two felony counts

@Jake_Brown: Tuesday afternoon update as DT Courtney Garnett wrestles with a decision between #Oklahoma and #NotreDame ($): http://t.co/TZufyI2zRD

Nothing new. He's really struggling with the decision. Some continue to believe this could go past NSD. The ND staff is doing a very good job here in short order.

Why rush and make a decision tomorrow? He should take his time and really consider all the pros and cons.

If Cage is in is Garnett still a take?

If he is still a take, will signing Cage effect Garnett's decision?

If anything, it's more ammunition for Stoops.

7 DL commits with at least three plugged in at DT. Oklahoma only has three DL commits.

I can see it now. He's walking into a restroom with a girly mag in hand. The coaches and players standing there cheering for him chanting "Boomer Sooner".

With McKenzie out and with it seeming like we are running 3rd for JuJu. I would think the staff would take Cage, Garnett, Alexander, and Quick. I don't know this to be fact but as hard as they are pushing for Garnett it makes it seem like they want both.

Same here, I don't know for sure but I think everyone left on the board is a take.

One thing that might bear on this is that Loy said yesterday that the staff didn't bring Ryan Sousa in for a visit because it didn't know what the other guys on the board were going to do and it didn't want to give away anyone's spot. Assuming that logic applies to other prospects at other positions, it seems that if we weren't willing to take both of Cage and Garnett, we wouldn't have allowed both to visit, or we wouldn't have pushed hard for Garnett after Cage's visit when we knew it went well.

I think we take both DT's if they want in, but what if JuJu pulls a Manti? Who gets left out?
