Lol.
I bought in too. So many of my confidence points are based on SEC dominance. I'm going to be pissed if y'all blow it today.

As I said earlier, I think it would be good for the SEC to lose some big bowl games. They haven't worked hard enough this year.

I don't know what a confidence point is.

I wouldn't go that far. I would say there are enough selfish prima donnas who will not listen to a coach on those teams to ruin it for ecerybody else.

Elite coaches get prima donnas to listen. I understand what you are saying, but it's a cop-out. It's the same excuse that PAC-10 fans have been using for years. It's complete crap. It's more accurate to say that the players have bought into the hype that the SEC vs. other conferences is akin to an NFL team taking on the National School for the Blind, and they just aren't taking the opponents seriously. But again, that just proves that there is no God -like status to coaching in the SEC.

It's not like SCar, Georgia or MissSt have even been close to playing for a NC perennially.. How could they feel like it's not worth the effort otherwise?

From reporter at Tuesday practice:

Barrett Jones is in a white jersey going through drills. Was moving laterally and forward very well. Seemed to have very good push--off. Foot was taped only. Did not seem to be limited in any way.

Good. You wanna be the best, you gotta beat the best.

SC and UGA for whatever reason, think they deserve it. I don't understand it either. Miss St just sucks.

Good points.

The only coach I know of with God-like status in the SEC is Saban. People here would be honored to let him sleep with their wife.

So this elite conference that beats up on each other year end and year out just wants to play for a title? This elite conference that so dominates the rest of college football that no other team could survive a SEC schedule, has no reason to play when they play out of conference teams with comparable ability?

Like Wildman said,! When has Ga, South Car, Miss St, or now T A&M competedfor a title?

Let me be more clear.

I am not making excuses for the SEC. They have problems they need to address. They hav grown complacent, apathetic, and lazy.

Physically, the conference has players that are as physically gifted as ever. Mentally, they suck.

If you think that is an excuse you are stupid. The mental aspect of football is just as important as the physical.

So you're saying that the SEC upper tier is full of $hitty coaches and nancy-boy players? Because any coach worth a $hit should be able to motivate his team to play in a New Years Day bowl game. And only a bunch of pansies would not have the pride to play every game with pride.

I think the players are just distraught that they aren't playing NFL teams.

Which they would probably beat.

LOL! Well played. I know you're joking, but every time someone says that seriously, I just have to laugh. No college team could beat the worst NFL team. Not even close. Period. Bama's starting 22 might have 10-12 guys that will ever make an NFL roster. The worst NFL team's 2nd string has 22 that already have. End of story.

That is a FACT!

Disinterest, apathy, whatever the case may be, Scar and Georgia did what they needed to do to win today. There are no moral victories, just real ones.

31, 24, 28, 34, & 25 = points allowed by SEC defenses in bowl games.

If teams just continue to implemnent their gameplan, they hang just fine with the SEC powers.

BTW... didn't look to me like the SEC had a "give-a-sh!t" problem in the games I saw...looked to me like they had a TON of guys get hurt...looked to me like Clemson and Skunbear took punches, then punched them back. LSU got beat...Scar won, but neither dominated any more than they were dominated...their opponents were good football teams that deserved to be there...

Well the SEC pulled out a couple of games today but they haven't looked like a total dominating conference like we've been told.

Wasn't sure whether this was BS, as there's no source cited other than "reporter", but now I've seen a couple reports to this effect so I think it's probably true. Bama's 247 guy and a Birmingham reporter both said Jones practiced, and the 247 guy said he didn't appear to be limited.

You guys don't understand, when SEC teams win close, ugly games, they're gritty and tough, but when Notre Dame does it, they're just lucky.

This is shaping up to be a very physical game. I have to wonder if being even slightly dinged up won't affect him later in the game. He's an honest-by-God All American, so I don't think he will be ineffective. But Nix is awfully tough, and well conditioned, too. So it might be an issue.

He'll play dinged up, and be better than not having him at all

...more than I can say for our Dbacks watching this game w/ various surgically repaired appendages.

Just reading through this stuff some of you will be hard pressed to make another week. I've been an Irish fan since before I was born. My mom was catholic but she knew nothing of football. My dad loved football but hated ND. I was a premature baby because I had to get out of there.Guess what? My mom still knows nothing of football and my dad still hates ND. I was in the navy and I missed the Joe Montana and the Lou Holtz back to glory years. Somebody owes me something so just hang on and it will come. Both of these teams are good, maybe great, and it's gonna be worth the wait.

Conditioning could well be an issue for Jones.

It might, but right now Saban is gonna milk this for all the TEAM motivation he can squeeze.

Barrett Jones, the 3 time All-American, The Heart and Brains of Bama's OLine, is being couched in the Willis Reed "Game 7" and Curt Schilling "Bloody Sock" role.

"Barrett gave up his crutches for this game! What are you going to give to bring home a championship?"

Nix may win the battle, Saban's scheming to win the war.
