Because of all the time ND invested in his recruitment with the undertanding that if/when he became eligible, he would instantly be a take. Every second used on his recruitment is time that could have been spent on another recruit, one who was eligible at the time, and perhaps at a position of need. That's how.

I agree with what you're saying and it's unfortunate that it's just the nature of the business. Everyone gets a fresh one at some point.

The school gets smacked when a sure thing they've spent countless hours recruiting signs elsewhere and the players get smacked when the coach that promised to be there for four years is gone after one winning season.

ND def has it tough when it comes to recruiting talented depth. We don't have the luxury of JUCO players and demand consistent effort in the classroom. Catholicism and syndicated exposure used to hand us the pick of the litter but the times have taken that away.

The degree has and continues to be a strong highlight within our pitch but even that gets diluted by coaches claiming their school has the #1 blah blah blah program and lying through their teeth.

It's a dog eat dog world and BK is wearin' bacon pants. But, I think he's done a fine job finding the diamonds in the rough who really want to leave college academically, spiritually and professionally prepared to take on life.

The sad thing is sometimes we have those kids, like Isaiah, in our grasp and Ole Miss comes along with a bag of benjamins and fucks it all up. :pityno:

p.s. woah, it let me curse.. i feel so dirty.

Seems like after all his hard work getting his academics in order he is finally going to enjoy the process. I want him here, but I hope he chooses the school best for him and has a good future.

This.
He hadn't really looked around all that much, taken OVs elsewhere, etc. Just spent a week at Notre Dame (and maybe visited Rutgers?). Frankly I'd rather a kid look around some before he signs rather than have regrets and transfer out a year or two down the road. Especially someone who's not a natural cultural fit for ND and has no particular ties there.
If he goes to Ole Miss and Florida, sees what they have to offer, and decides ND's where he wants to be, I think everyone's better off in the long run. And if he goes and decides Oxford's for him, everyone's better off in the long run that way too. He really doesn't owe us anything.

It's time we had an intervention for your goddam illiteracy.

Also I got 6 votes/reps for the avatar including one mod so I think this should be a go

You struggle with usage too, unless of course you like your men loose. Not that there's anything wrong with that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Per TV, Mckenzie is now the #1 WR on the board surpassing Quick. He'll be getting a school and in-home visit from Alford this week. BGI expects that by Friday we should have a better understanding of where we stand with Mckenzie.

Steve posted in the TV thread that he gets the sense ND is fading with Mckenzie.

So, does this clarify that he IS a take?

Depends on where you look. Loy is saying something completely different than everybody else. Lax has explained this pretty well over the last week. Getting him to sign on NSD and getting him admitted are two different things. ISD and II are reporting that McKenzie is still going to have work to do to gain admission into ND, which makes sense. I see it as, he's done enough work where the staff is comfortable taking his verbal and letting him sign on NSD. However, he'll have to continue to make progress throughout the rest of his school year. I think that now that he's blown up, that may not be an enticing option for him anymore.

Eating and typing at the same time is definitely a recipe for getting beat on a post, haha.

Speaking of working towards admittance, isn't the standards based on a sliding scale for GPA/test scores (I think I recall something to that effect). If so, could the the staff in a position where they are comfortable enough with his progress to take his verbal, but need either A) another bump in test scores, B) a GPA bump from senior year grades or a combination of both?

The strict "sliding scale" is an NCAA metric for scholarship eligibility. I'm not sure where IM stands in terms of NCAA rules versus Notre Dame admissions, but Notre Dame admissions is more of a "whole package" analysis, while the NCAA uses the sliding scale as a hard-and-fast rule.
