I don't know how to post tweets here but some guy is talking about Saban looking at hiring Kiffin as his OC. Has someone already posted that here? Any truth to it?

Don't know why everyone is so surprised that PSU's administration is able to keep a tight lid on the coaching search....they hid the Sandusky news for 10 years.

I thought it was maybe because they didn't have internet yet out there in State College....

Saban is a dink, but he seems way too competent to associate himself with a human dumpster fire like Kiffin. Would be amazing from the perspective of loving to hate things. That would be a fun situation to hate.

Not out of the realm of possibility. Lane's a good OC and recruiter. If he kept his mouth shut and just did his job (and Saban would likely make sure that's how it went), he might be a good hire. All that being said, I seriously doubt he'll be our next OC. Word is the job will likely go to our receivers coach Billy Napier or former UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel.

That would be my guess. Part of me would love it BK would hire Denbrock as OC, then hire Neuheisel as QB coach. Dude can coach QB's and recruit. Of course he's got a past that's pretty shady though...and documented as such. I think Kiffin at alabama would be a good hire too. I always thought he was a good pro-style OC and good recruiter. Not sure Laney has ever coached/called with tempo though. Not saying he couldn't, but if Saban truly wants to do that, I'd think Neuheisel would perhaps be the better coach.

neuheisel should have not switched to the pistol or he would still be coaching...

I don't know about that. He's failed at more places, for more reasons. I think some people are fine as assistants or coordinators, but not cut out to be the top guy.

They don't even have radio. I've had to drive across PA a few dozen times and radio just goes dead around PSU.

It's the ghost of JoePa. His aura blocks out all radio signals so the zombie cult continues to believe he's alive and coaching. If the media can't reach them, they'll never know...

I know perceptions of coaches vs who they really are off camera can vary, but Saban and Kiffin on the surface seem to have as much in common as Charlie Weis and Pete Carroll.

It's weird because Kiffin actually tried to model his coaching after Saban... but he just failed. He tried to do everything the way Saban did at Alabama but could not pull it off effectively. Should've tried to run the program like Carroll (i.e. like Ed O did, and Sark will do) to fit the mindset of those Cali kids. Nobody is coming to USC to be run by a disciplinarian who tries to remove fun from everything.

Franklin was offered the PSU job, Vandy matched and PSU came back with a hefty counter offer but it is as high as they will go. They expect him to accept but if he doesn't they are prepared to offer Golden on Friday.

reason is because he can recruit and coach offense. as we have seen with petrino or any other sports figure it dosent mean shit what your personality is as long as you contribute to winning

Kiffin was a good pro-style OC under Carroll. Now he will be a pro-style OC under Saban. Unlike most of the jobs he has had since the Carrol days, he is actually qualified for this one. This move makes sense for everybody.
