Anyone have idea who the "new big-time name" is????!! (Premium)

Dontre Wilson was the only name I saw that was "new"

Plant seeds, water, fertilize, watch 'em grow, collect the fruit.

I love this staff's recruiting efforts!

FYI, Mike Frank at ISD was told the staff would still take Folston. He also heard there are 3 spots left, 4 if the right guy wants in.

I know many have speculated as to what there is room for, so I thought I'd share what people who have contacts within the program are hearing.

So does this mean the staff does not foresee any medical hardships? There's been a lot of talk around here about Nichols and/or Hegarty possibly being done with football permanently due to injury, but if there are only 3/4 spots left, that is probably not the case.

That seems to be the case, and great news if true. Tate and Hegarty are much more important to the program's immediate future than anyone we might replace them with.

Let's hope. We desperately need both, especially Hegarty.

Some talk on II is that Nick Martin might be moved to center if Hegarty can't go. What has me worried about next year is Hegarty was having troubles with his snapping all spring and summer. If he is indeed out for awhile that means he's not gonna be able to practice on that.

Especially Hegarty. Without him available we are entirely dependent upon Mark Harrell or some significantly re-trained player. I wish Big Tate well and ability to help us next year, but tackles we got. [especially if ZMart stays].

Re: Matt's snapping. I believe that Coach said that Matt was getting that straightened out, and I don't recall big troubles when he got into a couple of games [like Wake]. As to Nick to Center, I believe that this has been thought of before --- also, if it were earlier, I think that Watt might be able to do it; we have a history of training our guards as the back-up centers [I think it might have been Nuss before Golic].

This recruiting is so much more fun than last year. Last year everyone committed was visiting and the only hope we had were long shots. Now none of the current big names are looking, people verballed to other teams are considering us, and we have the #2 class. What a difference between 7-5 and 12-0.

Last year was horrid, absolutely terrible! At least some of them have contributed right away (Russell, Day, Brown, Shumate, Baratti, and Romeo). This is year has been so much fun watching this class grow with ELITE talent

i like the idea of nick martin at center personally...hegarty was a tackle out of high school anyway and if he's still struggling with the snap (which he may have gotten over) i don't see any reason to keep fighting it.

I don't know if I would say it was horrid. It wasn't the class we were expecting and it was hard not to be disappointed with some of the guys that got away, but as small as the class was it was still a pretty good class. Adding Gunner and Davonte down the stretch (and after the stretch) took some of the sting out.

A bit OT, but it is crazy to think about what the reaction would have been if someone came here a year ago and told us that none of Tee, Deontay, Darby and Decker would end up at ND, and neither would Poole, Wright or the Armsteads. And then as everyone was freaking out, the person came back and said "hey guys, settle down. You're going to be in the BCS Championship Game next year, so don't worry."

I wish I could time travel so I could be that guy.

On Power Hour James Onwualu just said we will finish #1 in recruiting Fwiw

Hopefully that means he has confirmation that AQM is as good as committed, as well as Redfield, and knows that Folston or (mysteryrecruit) is gonna hop on board as well.

Seems like we tend to put a little too much emphasis on any given recruit/s. Great coaching goes a long way.

He said he talks to players, Redfield being one of them.

If I remember right he mentioned no other names, because he had to keep those quiet.

...? What lol

If the question was who is Chris Brown going to burn for a TD in the NCG, than I'm with you.

Otherwise, I'm confused.
You know Geno is their nickle corner, first DB in.

I've been saying Geno Smith since May 2011, when we thought he was going to visit and commit to ND. I'm not letting go...I'm not letting go

Our recruiting classes have gotten better each year IMO. The 12 class was loaded with drama for us nuts, but loaded with talent and no filler.

Last year's class added some studs later in the cycle, and had a lot of kids who were under-appreciated. Good coaching PLUS good scouting goes along way.

Who do we project will start at NT after Nix leaves? Really tough for a frosh play right off the bat so we either need someone to round out this class or that guy is already on the roster.

Obviously Vanderdoes is the guy, if we get him.

If not, I think the plan is to continue to beef up Springmann so he can be a number one guy there. I have the impression that they would prefer to use Jones and Day on the outside but I think they are guys like Tuitt who can play NG as well as DE. And we are working hard on DL in the 2014 class, but as you say not sure how ready to play the true frosh will be.

I have a sinking feeling we're going to have to find out in 2014. I love what the staff is doing this year, and God knows they've pulled a few rabbits out of their hats over the past 3 recruiting seasons. That said, I just don't see EV coming here. I HOPE HOPE HOPE I'm wrong.

Hegarty if healthy most likely. If he isn't, look for Harrell / Hanratty to get a look (both have trained for center) or possibly see one of the more experienced lineman (Watt or Nick Martin) shift over there.
