Basically, PSU went all in to get a Penn State guy that will consider it a "dream job" and not pull an O'Brien. Al Golden has a great personality and can recruit.

Can he coach? I'm really, really skeptical.

I used to really dislike Penn State based on their obviously false and self-righteous "winning with honor" crap. Once Paterno left my anger subsided. Is your dislike based on having to love around their fans? I can certainly understand that, living in Alabama.

Growing up 45 minutes from Beaver Stadium...well within the bubble of delusion...tends to do that to many independently thinking people.

Certainly did for me. I love watching their program burn...I do feel for the players though.

This carries a lot of weight. Their fan base CAN be delusional, just like some in our camp here as well.

I don't wish bad things upon PSU at all. I hope they get Franklin.

I've had to deal with PSU fans my entire life. At times in the 80s, I was the only ND fan in my class and PSU were beating us almost yearly. They would harass the hell out of me. Some of my best friends are obnoxious PSU fans.

The drive from Harrisburg to State College on 322W is littered with bill boards saying you can't cover up 61 years of success with honor and 409 among other things. The cult of Paterno is alive and well in Central PA and will be until my kids are in their 30's. It's sad and pathetic that all of them have decided that what happened and what was covered up doesn't matter because they believe Joe didn't know.
Nevermind the fact that the guy had so much power he literally told the university no when they tried to fire him.

This would be interesting. I don't think Stoops goes, he has a good thing at Oklahoma. He may just be looking for a raise. Same for Urban, I don't think he leaves OSU, probably just trying for a raise.

I actually think Tressel would be a good hire for them. He was a damn good coach (probably not a very good human being, but heh) that would have been a legit candidate for the NFL before his departure at OSU. I think it would go over well with the fans as well.
