Missouri fans are very active on his timeline. Guess they were feeling a little nervous with the new offers.... I don't know how much of a shot we have here.

I don't have a good feeling about flipping him. Hope I'm wrong.

Where did you go to high? Niles? Dowagiac? I went to Lawton. Oh and you are correct with he talent being pretty crap!

This is just for baseball but I remember Niles being the best team we faced in summer tournaments. They had these twins named Reimers I think, and they were actually in Sports Illustrated. Now this is quite a while ago and has nothing to do with football but I always assumed Niles had lots of talent, unless it was just those couple years. Love that baseball field down there.

Kid definitely looks athletic, and I would love to have a kid near my hometown get a chance to play for the Irish, but I hope his offer isn't actionable quite yet.

I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH HOW BAD HIS COMPETITION IS.

We're talking about teams with kids that have never played football. 5'7" middle linebackers and typically reeeeallly bad coaching. This kid may end up being a really good player, but he would get to campus with an extremely low football IQ, non existent technique and have to adjust to playing other talented kids. Right now, he is a rare athlete that is playing against kids that should never step on a field with an athlete of his caliber.

I'm serious...

im sure they said the same about Larry Bird when came out of French Lick, IN....just sayin!:)

seriously though i am torn on the competiion argment i see both sides

Yeah... Bird's talent wasnt predicated on physical contact with kids half of his size. It's hard to judge front 7 football players when they are dominating kids that don't belong on a field with them. I wish we could see this kid lineup against a D1 prospect. He looks good, and is a hometown kid, but he is definitely hard to evaluate because of that.

Didn't Jaylon smith play some poor talent in high school....???

Williams competition isn't even in the same atmosphere as Jaylons. Williams probably played against (not faced on the line, just on the team he played) one or two kids that will play any level of college football. He certainly didn't play any D1 talent.

Shoot... A lot of the kids he faced were under 200 pounds.

some of Jaylon's competition was decent (they played bishop Hartley his senor year) but a good chunk of it isnt anything to brag about

Jhonny Williams - Highlight Videos, Schedule & Roster - Hudl

Not sure if people had seen his senior year film - I had only seen his junior year myself. I don't care if those are Powderpuff girl players he is going against, that is some impressive athleticism, tenacity and aggressiveness he is showing for a guy with his size and frame.

I know some people hate offers out late to lower rated guys, but you catch teach 6'5 - 6'6 with that speed and aggressiveness. Could be a really, really nice late 'sleeper' pickup.

How about the play, I think the 3rd or so highlight, where he chases that kid down from behind to push him out of bounds. Nice open field running.

Not sure this is the case anymore. When you were in school Berrien Springs was in the Lakeland Conference but they are in the Wolverine conference now with bigger, more talented teams like Paw Paw, Plainwell, Otsego, Vicksburg, Three Rivers, etc

OK I gotta ask, there is a school named Paw Paw? What's their nickname?

I watched both last week. First I watched his junior film and wasn't real impressed. But then I watched his senior film and saw a HUGE improvement. If he can make that big of a leap in one year, I imagine the staff is really excited about what they can mold him into after a year or two on campus.

Competition is pretty overrated as a determining factor in my opinion. Yes, it's nice when the players dominate at larger schools and whatnot, but physical ability is physical ability no matter where you are.

While there is certainly an advantage to playing against better competition, I would argue that it only makes a prospect further along in the learning curve, but as we all know "projects" happen from big schools and little schools..

Surprised MSU hasn't offered. This seems like the type of player that they are usually all over.

I agree that competition doesn't really matter when evaluating talent but it's the toughness that won't develop as early and the physicality of the game against peers tends to be overwhelming early. Now, this isn't the case with all but a lot.
