Hard to blame him. Once the Manziel gravy train leaves the station, USC is clearly a better gig than aTm (no pun intended).
USC Pat Hayden flew to Denver two weeks ago and interviewed Jack Del Rio for their head coaching job. ... tmi.me - JayGlazer: USC Pat Hayden

Did you watch the Stanford game? Ed Orgeron has the Trojans playing with enthusiasm and intensity. He's made a believer out of me. I'll be watching the UCLA game on November 30th. Pat Haden and USC have their head ball coach. After the game, Orgeron was directing the band as fans swarmed the field. He's quite the character, and his players will work hard for him.
But one has to wonder if Ed O wants to coach the Trojans or sell Hummers.

Big new stadium renovation coming and much much improved recruiting classes put this comment in the dead wrong section.
That gig has become one of the better ones around.

Ed Orgeron has head ball coach written all over his Cro Magnon forehead. What coaching advantage? Bob Diaco? Chuck Martin? If those two aren't question marks in Notre Dame's future success! In any event, the November 30th matchup with UCLA should be interesting. Should USC play with intensity and enthusiasm, it will confirm that Orgeron has gotten the football program out of an awful mess. Not sure that Ed Orgeron will be an elite coach though. He has them playing well now but let's see how he does if he gets the job. I am not convinced and hoping they do hire him as I think we will have the coaching advantage.
He can say he has learned from his 10-25 stint at Ole Miss but not sure that is enough to say he will be a success at USC.

From my couple USC friends,.
Their recruiting probably got a pop from joining the SEC, and the better they compete there the better they'll do. But the quality of recruiting classes also has a lot to do with the coaching staff and the - likely short-term - decline of UT (not to mention the ability to sign 35 guys). If (when?) Sumlin leaves and UT gets back on track, there are no structural reasons why A&M is a better job than USC.
Unless Saban takes the Texas job, then it's back to being lil brother in the Lone Star State.
I don't know about that...I think the SEC, coupled with the cult like following at A&M makes this a very attractive job, and one that will likely get over the "UT's little brother" hump
Wait, and you LIVE in Texas?? That will always be a UT state.

Agree, A&M will never replace the Longhorns as the matriarch of Texas football.
I didn't say "replace". I'm saying they're going to build their own rep and get out from under the shadow.
And despite what you may think...UT is the "state" favorite...but cities like Houston are very Aggie friendly.
A&M fans are pretty out there in terms of Texas bases… most are pretty good,… A&M fans have a major step child, chip on their shoulder thing going on… it’s who they are… That would be one major shift in identity more than anything...
A&M has a HUGE following in the DFW area as well. Heck, I drive by 2 giant A&M billboards every morning on the way to work and probably know more Aggies than Longhorns that are my age.
UT is still the "big brother", but I don't think they're going to be able to quash A&M's rise without some external help.
Coach O would be a laughably bad hire. He's basically Les Miles, and the moment he has an adversity out there the LA types will eat him alive. This is a post-Kiffin honeymoon. So I doubt Haden hires him.
The best thing ever is if USC keeps winning and Haden hires someone who wants to clean house. That will **** off soooooo many people and recruits. From my couple USC friends, they all freaking love how opposite to Kiffin he is and will be PISSED if he's not on the staff in some capacity next year.

I'm not sure I agree with that. I've paid attention to UT football since the 67. A&M has had their peaks before, but they never have been able to step out of the shadow of the Longhorns.
USC 247 guy is hearing they will offer the job to Petersen and if he passes it will probably be given to Ed O
