They posted an article with info on a lot of prospects. They called him a "heavy lean" to WVU. The assumption here is that he doesn't get his stuff together in order to get in to ND.

Link? I don't know how he would be a "heavy lean" if that's not his top choice. Did he magically change from wanting to go to ND, to the Irish being a distant #2 to WVU over a single week?

Thats crap, IMO. On 10/3 II did an interview where he said we still lead. On 10/4 TJ said that we asked him to wait on announcing a commitment until further notice on the academic side of things.

Ryan tells me he will be detailing the pick tomorrow morning, so tune back in then!

If this is indeed true, that would be huge. McKenzie is one of the most electrifying players in the country right now

I wonder if that pissed him off?

I doubt it. I agree that Bartow is probably off on this.

I just have a hard time believing this kid would lie on camera to II.

What we already know. Loy is saying that if he can get into ND he will be a part of the class. Loy's hearing that its not grades, he hasn't taken his tests to get into college yet. I'd bet that WVU is telling him he can commit now and they'll take him regardless of score. We're telling him to hold off on committing until he gets a satisfactory score. ND just has different rules and standards.

That would seem to fly in the face of any WVU rumors then, wouldn't it? If he hasn't taken any standardized college entrance exams yet, why would any school take his commitment at this point?

To enroll at WVU you pretty much just need to have a pulse....walking and chewing gum, while breathing for your mouth gets you honors!

If it's not grades, and he actually hasn't taken the tests yet (as opposed to bombing them), I really don't see what the hold up and concern are. If his grades are already in order, shouldn't it just be a matter of sitting down, filling in some bubbles and walking out with a promise worth 4 years of top-tier education and football exposure?

Right, but I guess what I meant was that it doesn't sound like a missing test score at this point should be enough to write him off as "gone" to WVU.

247 also moved WVU up to "warmer" indicating that they truly believe they lead.

Interesting development to say the least. Although this is basically what TP has been saying since day 0 about him ultimately not being part of this class.

That is true. Even Christian at ISD has been extremely bullish and ISD in general really has not seriously acknowledged the academic concerns. I've only followed recruiting for three years, but one thing I've learned is that even a rumor of an academic/qualifying issue needs to be taken seriously, and that almost all of the recruits with academic issues don't come here, or end up leaving pretty quickly. The only one I can remember actually working out is Daniels in 2011.

Is it possible that he really wants to announce nowish and he is turned off by our insistence that he get a qualifying SAT score first? Sometimes feeling wanted makes a big difference, and maybe WVU is making him feel really wanted by telling him they'll take him no matter what.

That could be part of it, but I think he views himself as the next Tavon Austin and WVU is appealing to that. If this were strictly a football decision, and it very well could be for Isaiah, I'd pick WVU if I were him.

Great point. I have read where he has compared himself to Tavon Austin.

Really wanted this kid here. He's electrifying. Hope something happens to change his mind or change his situation so he can end up here.

Except that despite his size Austin was a 5 star recruit on Scout and high 4 star on Rivals. Izzy is a nice player but Tavon Austin he's not.

He would fit great in their offense, but dang. WVU is the polar opposite of ND.
