I still wonder if Kelly felt there was little chance of losing to Temple and he held his hand with the backs... wouldn't surprise me if Cam doesn't see that amount of carries again.

I would personally like to see if Bryant is what I think he is... I'm sure we'll find out.

I think he was doing that but Cam keeps taking advantage of all his opportunities and showing that he can move the ball consistently. I personally feel like the ball is safe and the chains will move with him back there on 3rd down and short.

But, in saying that.. and to be brutally honest.. I think Kelly and the staff see Cam as the sacrificial lamb that will get the carries in games already decided... so the horses don't get hurt.

I also want to see the Bryant/Folston experiment under the lights. We'll find out who's ready. Either way, I'd be happy with Cam in big moments but we are deeper than we have been in a while so there's so many right answers.

The only problem of having freshmen RB in there is the blocking assignments. The offense has a lot of nuances in pass blocking and you know Michigan is going to bring the pressure all night long. You don't want to see Tommy get waxed. Physically Bryant could probably block anybody on their team. Is he there mentally? I have no clue...
If Kelly thinks he is, then I'm all for it.

I don't buy ND as being a 'big boy' yet... I don't buy Michigan being back either...

I don't think it'll be rocket science... who protects the ball better?? Special teams could be a big factor too...

Uh oh, now that's definitely NOT in ND's favor!

'09, '10 and '11 were just brutal. Should have won all three of those games.

But, ND probably should have lost the '12 game.

No way. Michigan had 5+ turnovers last year, no way they should have won. We really should have won by a larger margin, we just played pretty conservatively and fell back on the defense.

We definitely should have won '11, we blew that one on defense in the 4th quarter after dominating all game.
As far as '10 and '09, maybe if Crist didn't get injured in '10 for half the game we could/should have won that one, or if one of our backups would have been prepared we would have deserved to win. We lost because of the lack of preparation and a horrible end to the 1st half that followed.
'09...We were winning at the half, and it was close at the end, but we didn't want it as bad in the 2nd half and I don't think we deserved to win that one. It was a very winnable game, I don't know what we were doing to be honest.

If you feel like vomiting, the 09 game is on BTN. May the Forcier be with you.

You mean QB Force?

Take a look at our 2009 roster. We had some talent on defense, but virtually no depth, and the seniors were on their 3rd Defensive Coordinator in 4 years. They weren't built to outlast teams in the 4th quarter (and they didn't.)

I hate Michigan so much. One of my good friends is a Michigan fan and he thinks they are going to roll us. I just want to kick the everlasting ****ing **** out of them and then laugh at their stupid fans. "But, but, but it's the Big House!!" Shut up! Let's beat the **** out of Michigan and burn the Big House to the ground! Go Irish!

Haha a true fan! My buddy was my college roommate of 4 years, but we have a rule where 1. You cannot contact the other person to make fun of them the rest of the game's day and 2. Stay classy about the win/loss for a week. After that, the real fun begins.

I'm kind of worried about or RG keeping his head up and not getting beat. Anyone help me here?

Oh and our lack of a pass rush when blitzing, that kind of hit me as well.

Your post about 3rd and 1 reminded me of 2011. I recall two (were there more?) situations where we had 3rd and 1 and they completely smothered our running backs with run blitzes. I hope Kelly/Martin have a better understanding of Mattison so that we can pick up/exploit these short yardage situations. I don't remember many 3rd and 1's from last year.. Anybody recall?

He got beat once badly last week on a passing play. It seems like they have Stanley with a wider split from Lombard this year than Lombard had from Golic last year. Perhaps they feel Lombard can cover more ground. He did not get beat again against Temple, but they can decrease the split if he has trouble.

Ha, one of my best friends growing up was also a Michigan fan, but it made absolutely no sense. We lived in the heart of Buckeye country, none of his family was from Michigan, went to Michigan, or rooted for Michigan. He was a Michigan fan he said "Because they looked cool." This went on till about high school, and his Catholic roots finally took hold and he was all for the Irish. Today he says "I don't know what I was thinking..."

Back in the early 90s, I remember Starter jackets were almost like a political statement at my middle school. The white kids all had ND or Michigan, the black kids all had Miami or FSU, and the hispanic kids all had Raiders or LA Kings. Such a strange phenomenon.....The point of my rant is one buddy was a Michigan jacket guy, he had no allegiance to them before he got it, and is still a longtime fan because of that stupid skunkbear jacket. Thanks Starter!!!

Not worried, it was only one play and the Oline held together very well the rest of the game, especially on pass protection.

Ty Willingham could have gone 15-0 at home with their B1G schedule!

He's played 2 ranked teams at home in the last 2 years:

11/19/11 - #16 Nebraska 45-17
11/10/12 - #24 Northwestern 38-31OT

He's played 5 ranked teams in the last 2 years (not counting bowl games).

10/15/11 - @ #23 Mich St L 14-28
11/19/11 - #16 Nebraska W 45-17
9/1/12 - #2 Alabama L 14-41
9/22/12 - @ #11 Notre Dame L 6-13
11/10/12 - #24 Northwestern W 38-31OT

That is NOTHING to brag about. Hoke walked into a B1G that is absolute muff cabbage in a year when Cheaty McSweatervest was gone! I'm not scared of the big bad Hoke.

I know how easy their schedule has been. Just heard it on the radio earlier.

Todd McShay, who I really like, just picked Michigan.

So did Cowherd. And I hope since you like him and he didn't pick us you now realize he's a looser. If not we need your fan card. We CANNOT and WILL NOT accept fans who support people other than our own.

I'm more worried about our defense than I am about our offense. First one to thirty wins. First one to two turnovers loses.

Once we seen what we would be facing in Temple we adjusted and played well the second half. It was hard to gameplan for a first year coach and QB.

You mean the guy all the Michigan fans claimed meant nothing because he was out? Lol

only one of his career!!!

His career isn't over yet.

I'm kind of worried about or RG keeping his head up and not getting beat. Anyone help me here?

Do we really want to get a huge pass rush on Gardner. Being mobile, it seems we would want enough to make him uncomfy and to make mistakes but not to the point he scrambles and burns us. Saturday he seemed to only have one target per play then he was lost. Even the announcers said he was playing sand lot football and looked lost.

oh, and **** MICHIGAN!

Haven't read the thread, but I think ND steamrolls Michigan this weekend.

ND won last year with crappy play.

ND contained Denard, who is more mobile than Gardner.

ND is improving and with that said, I expect them to close out these games that were entirely too close last year. This week is one of those games. They should beat Michigan, they will beat Michigan, and it won't be close.

Tommy is in a position to win. Kelly/Martin are using his strengths and he's going to take full advantage of it. Will he eventually throw a pick? Yes-and what will be interesting is how people will react.

Now, where did I put that roach...?
