Call me crazy but this guy keeps popping up when I think of Greg Bryant's build and his weight (205). Greg Bryant isn't a situational back, he is a back that can do it all. That is why I don't think the Riddick, Gray, or even Lacy comparison does him any justice. Now I'm not saying Bryant will be as good as this guy, but he certainly has a very similar build to him IMO

Not the same type of runner as Peterson, hopefully he is like a taller trent richardson. He has the solid base. He can be strong but also allusive.

You just described Adrian Peterson IMO. AP is a running back that can run someone over, then have the speed to make it into an 80 yard touchdown.

GB has the build to be like AP. He is built like an ox and can definitely run away from defenders. I'm not saying he will be like AP, but he certainly has a chance

AP also runs more up and down when he is not initiating contact. He has such a distinct running style that is not natural to the position. He can run in this style because he is such a freak athlete. If GAIII ran more properly he would be like peterson. Bryant has a very low center of gravity and uses that to his advantage.

GB is 5'10, AD is 6'1. Bryant doesn't have the length that Peterson and Yeldon do.

Agreed. Although I will admit the first time I saw Bryant's face I thought immediately of Peterson. I think that's where the comparisons stop though. Totally different players. And to be fair, very few compare to Peterson. He's special and physically the most impressive 19 year old I ever met.

Trent Richardson coming out of high school is the player Bryant reminds me of, but I agree with those that have said Bryant is a tough comparison.

In my opinion Bryant reminds me more or a guy like Andre Ellington from Clemson. With his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield and hit the hole hard. Don't think it's fair to compare him to a future hall a famer and a future top 10 pick.

I am looking forward to highly rated recruits being compared to the next great Notre Dame RB, Greg Bryant.

I actually think Bryant has a pretty similar body type to Cierre Wood. Maybe a little bit more compact. He is a much tougher runner than Cierre and probably is a little more athletic.

Tarean Folston reminds me so much of Gio Bernard coming out. Versatile and compact, quick, but not a burner

Elijah Hood seems like Michael Turner reincarnated to me with his combo of size, power, and speed.

We should have a separate thread for ND commits compared to former ND players or college/NFL guys in general

Rivals used to do player comparisons more often but now they only do it for like the Top 10 guys

Reminds me a lot of Travis Thomas when I see his film. Will make an excellent undersized outside linebacker for a year before moving back to offense. See spells of tony driver too - maybe a couple fumble returns for touchdowns against navy is in his future.

Greg Bryant = Jonas Gray clone of his senior year once Greg learns to lower his shoulder. Kid that can run away from a defense, but would classify as a blazer. Kid that can play a role in the receiving game to the point he can be 1-3 down player. Can run inside or outside zone. The question will be can he put it together sooner than Jonas.

NFL comparion = Marshawn Lynch.

The only thing Bryant lacks is elite speed. Few have it, that's why it's elite. I fully expect him to be taking at least half the carries midway through the season. No knock on the other RBs, but this is my guess.

I think we should hold off on all the comparisons for Bryant...you know, until he actually plays in college.

But since we're playing the game-- Craig James.

I have little doubt that Craig James did in fact murder at least five hookers while at SMU... I just doubt he was the one that paid for them... And that at least a few were Dickerson's seconds...

Agree 100%

Only difference is (unfortunately for Jonas) BK and company know how to develop players, so it would seem with the incoming Olinemen, plus Mr. Bryant just being a true freshman, that the sky is the limit.

Edit: I think GAIII is the truth this season, but Bryant holds it down thereafter.

He will need another 30 lbs of muscle to be similar to Jonas. Still think my comparison of GB to Theo is closer than anybody else mentoined so far.

Can't wait to see him hit the field though, I hope he can hit the ground running and become a mature focused player. After seeing Cierre Wood's up and down career I dont want GB to end up this way.

At the same token, Theo was nowhere near the physical specimen Bryant is coming out of h.s. He would've needed another 30 pounds of muscle to be similar to GB.

I'll wait until I see him run in college, but Theo was much more of a slasher his first 3 years than he was his final year. Even when he finally was given a chance to play RB against Stanford, he was still more of a make-you-miss player than the one you saw his senior year, when he would also lower the shoulder and get extra yards.

So if we're talking about where they were coming out of h.s., I see much more Gray than I do Theo. We'll see how they compare once GB gets to college...

I saw photos of him in his Fr. year and he looked very physical at the time. In fact, in one of the photos, he compared himself with a cover magazine of Terrell Owens and he looked very thick. Maybe not as Bryant, but he was very strong since his HS days.

21. Greg Bryant (RB, Fr.) Of all the talented newcomers on our list, Bryant is the highest rated true freshman. That’s likely a product not just of his touted recruiting ranking or his college-ready physique, but also the realities of the running back depth chart.

Bryant is the Irish’s most highly sought after offensive recruit since Jimmy Clausen, giving you an idea of the expectations heaped on the freshman back. And at a position that’s as close to plug and play as can be, if the recruiting services are correct with their evaluations, Bryant could very quickly make himself a key part of the Irish’s ground game.

Not the biggest, fastest, or strongest running back, Bryant is expected to be a super-charged Theo Riddick. That’d make Irish fans plenty happy, with Bryant’s versatility making him the most utilized weapon in last season’s offensive attack. Still, freshmen haven’t walked onto campus and made a huge impact under Kelly, so keeping expectations in check might be important.

I thought this was pretty funny.
