jarron jones was also snapped up from under PSU's noses. I like our chances if they turn out to be the main competition

Seriously?

Dud u watch the 2006 rose bowl? Ask Matt Leinart an Reggie bush why they didn't win that game

Agree completely. He's not giving that Auburn team enough credit. They lost A LOT more than just Newton and it showed. Guys like Darvin Adams, Terrell Zachery, Lee Ziemba, Ryan Pugh, Bryon Isom, Zac Etheridge, Josh Bynes, Craig Stevens, and of course Nic Fairley (seriously, you forgot Fairley?) made that team complete.

Cam Newton> Vince Young

Vince Young had ten times the supporting cast that Newton had.

Sorry man but that's straight up bull. I hate UT with a deep rooted passion but VY, despite being a massive failure since, is the most impressive college football player I've seen the last 10 years... outside of the guy that beat him for the Heisman.

Okay! Can you all take your extraneous conversations elsewhere?

Never thought I would say that!

If true, got to like our chances. Has he visited PSU yet?

In response to somebody posting on II that Holley was an ND lock. Sampson said he believes that if he had to sign today it would be PSU.

I would cry.

I mean, I don't see us having a realistic shot at a lot of other NG-capable prospects right now. Unless there are guys flying under the radar, or unless we are a more serious player for guys like Khairi Clark than I realize, we need Holley in 2014.

If that's the case the distance from home is more of an issue than I first thought

PSU boards are saying its a PSU/Ohio State matchup with ND running in 3rd. Staying close to home is big for Holley and having a cousin at Penn State is helping them. Say that he is 2 months from even being close to a decision, whatever that means.

he stated in an article i posted before that this will HAVE NO IMPACT on his decision

........... thread clean-up please.

In my opinion, Thomas Holley is the current most significant recruit we have still out there, for whom we have a good chance at being successful. "Most significant to future team roster filling needs" and probably most likely to have a good shot at playing freshman year. [I wouldn't mind having a very clean fully supportive thread for the young man and his parents to read either. Family is very important to him and Notre Dame is the best athletic and scholastic family around].

I would agree... if the assumption is ND doesn't have a realisitc shot at Elam... I'd be thrilled to get either.

Per Kuerlic at Bucknuts (so take with a grain of salt) PSU, OSU and ND are definitely his Top 3 and if anyone has the lead it is only by a sliver. He goes back and forth everyday and isn't really close to making a decision.

DISCLAIMER: The House is a place for rumors and gossip and innuendo. We don’t treat it is if it’s “inside information,” like some people do. Yet – you guys love to hear the good stuff. To do that, we have to:
1) Disclaim that we don’t know if any of it is true
2) Not attribute it to any particular - source
3) Not attribute it to any particular reporter

When u have to put this at the bottom of your posts, even u know your info sucks.

Sidenote: Its amazing the activity on Bucknuts, every single day they have a new "Boarding House" and "Kuerlic's Recruiting Tidbits" with info from "sources". Each thread averages about 75 comments a day. No other pay site comes even close to that.

I don't understand how the composite has him as the number 3 d tackle when the highest he is rated by one of the services is 4th

It's pretty straight forward. It's because he has the third highest average rating...

Guys ahead of him on one site or another are not ranked as high on other sites.

Under the "lots of fish in the sea" theory, I try not to get too wrapped up about any particular recruit, but I'm increasingly with those who say this guy might be the single most important player left on our board.
There are truly elite kids I'd love to have - Solomon Thomas, that OT from Kansas - and longer shots who'd be tremendous, like Elam or Carter. But Holley's top 5 at his position at a position of huge need, and a guy with no particular reason to be anywhere but Notre Dame. If he winds up at Ohio State? Yuck.
So reel him in, eh?

Because 247 converts the ratings of Scout, Rivals and ESPN into its own 100-pt scale, averages them with its own, and then re-ranks everyone according to those Composite rating. So the order of recruits, even within their own position groups, can change somewhat.

I'm in confusion mode about Alabama and Holley.

A). Last year {2013 recruiting cycle} Saban recruited two DTs, one a 5* and one a 4* {Robinson and Paige}. These guys are both about 6'4", 320 pounds. Saban also recruited three DEs.

B). This cycle Saban has three verbals listed somewhere or another as DTs, though one looks to be headed to OLine. The two DTs are 6'2" 303 and 6'2" 320 [i.e. clearly DTs].

C). On top of this, an Alabama site listed their three top DT recruiting targets as Elisha Shaw 6'4' 295, and Josh Frazier 6'2' 324 and, despite being a UVA commit, Andrew Brown 6'4" 282.

D). Note that Holley is not on the top target list, and that the Alabama roster has personnel just in front of him [2013] and in his same class [two verbaled and three allegedly higher sought].

Now, what sort of lie can Saban tell Thomas about how much he claims to desperately need him when he visits Alabama? Kelly and Diaco can tell him and his parents with an absolutely straight face that NOTRE DAME needs him right off the bat, but Saban will clearly be lying if he says the same thing.

I hope that young Thomas and his parents will be able to see through the con.
