Told UF 247 reporter tonight that Florida is the only OV locked in and they are positioning themselves to be his leader. Said he does want to visit ND again but doesn't know if it will be an OV or not.

Perceived is the key word here. Bama this time last year was the perceived leader for Robert Nkemdiche. At the end of the day they weren't really in it. I could absolutely see Carter at UF.

No one is claiming it's UF vs. ND. Of course other schools are in play. But I live in Atlanta and his name and UF have been coming up lately.

Some are on here and 247. And yes a guy that does Florida recruiting (the state not the team) called UF as the darkhorse for Carter months ago, I believe he's GBs cousin.. I can see him ending up at other schools besides UGA & Bama.

In my opinion. I see him at Notre Dame, moreso than Florida. He has sincere and legitimate interest in the Irish. Unlike Nkemdiche, he seems to take his education more seriously. Like that the 2 best defensive players are looking for more than a simple way to the NFL. Whether they mean it or it's just lip service is yet to be seen, but at least for Carter, he seems well spoken. I definitely have ND at the top of his list, especially if he's considering to visit again, even if it's not official.

We're certainly in the hunt, and I'm not sure what more we could hope for at this point. Get him back on campus and see what happens.
Florida's a good school though, best university in the SEC after Vanderbilt (even if it doesn't always work that way for football players). Frankly they tend to worry me more than 'Bama or UGA, because a guy - and his parents - can more credibly tell himself he's going there for the education.

I don't think so. With another UV in the wings and an OV on the horizon, ND has a very good chance of winning the battle for him. There's still work to do, but far from a long shot at best.
