Penn St. BOT reportedly meeting on school’s decision to accept sanctions | CollegeFootballTalk

What a bunch of a$$hats at Penn State.

So let's recap.

The Prez accepts sanctions without conferring with the BoT. (Isn't this the same kind of sh!t that got them in this mess to begin with, geez. At least someone is speaking up now that they have been undermined. What a load of crap for everyone involved.)

I agree with the Prez taking the sanctions; no university wants to fight a potential 4 year death penalty. But d@mn, he could of at least ran it by the BoT.

Love to see the kind of hammering they would get if the BoT decides to override the Prez's decision (if even possible) and fight the NCAA. Might as well go the NAIA if so.

After they agree to a 60 million dollar fine, I like the guy who says initially they were talking about really big money!

The problem.

The End.

I bet Erickson will get fired. In 1999 he didn't want to give emeritus status to sandusky that raises questions and answers.

I am more concerned about the insurance underwriters suing the university. If PSU loses their legal battle, which, in truth they concealed information from the underwriters, football would be an imposibillity. Without 100k waiver releases signed every week.

Seriously. Are the Feds going to stick their noses in and insure PSU? Who is going to back them after they blew their credibility?

PSU just took the commitment of a completely unranked linebacker whose only FBS offer was Toledo. His other "offers" were Robert Morris, Mesa State College, Wofford, etc.

This is the new Penn State... where Notre Dame has lacrosse players with more FBS offers than their scholarship LINEBACKERS. So much for Linebacker U..........

I don't get that from Penn State's perspective. If they wanted this kid, they could get him in February. Why do it now? Why signal to prospective recruits - and guys currently committed to you and guys on your roster that can leave whenever they want - that this is actually the "new" Penn State? Seems like a mistake, at least in terms of branding or whatever. Not the message you want to send. Hold out for the best guys you can get for as long as you can, IMO.

On Mike and Mike, Todd Blackledge just said he is more concerned with the tearing down of Joe Paterno the person than the statue.

I caught that segment, Blackledge was asked about PSU and he prefaced his comments by addressing his sadness for the victims. After expressing his compassion for the victims, I recall him saying he had "trouble wrapping his arms around the situation" as hundreds of young men (players) grew up under Paterno's positive guidance and Freeh Report has some questionable areas. The media and legal experts have also commented on the Freeh Report as evidence and the NCAA's rush to judgement.

Blackledge experienced a lifetime of mentoring and love while you keep expressing a lifetime of hate.

Paterno knew about his assistant coach molesting children on campus for over 14 years and Blackledge is worried about his reputation being torn down.
My comment has nothing to do with the fact that I always have and always will hate Penn St. football.

I'll believe it when I see it as far as scheduling tougher non-conference games. Their schedules are pretty much done for at least the next 4 years.

I know you don't care about being objective, re Penn State, but they have played Alabama, out of conference, the last two years. Their OOC schedule has been very easy, recently, but it's not like they haven't played ANYONE good.

Bill O'Brien said that the whole team, minus 2 or 3 players have recommitted to the program.

After the season the flood gates will open.

Yes, at minimum about 15 players will have to transfer to even get under the 65 limit. Either that or everyone junior and higher needs to declare for the NFL.

Great point. For those who don't know about the coverage litigation:

Penn State insurer seeks to deny coverage - CNN.com

I don't know how much PSU can afford to pay if their liability insurance doesn't cover any of this stuff.

Good find...most of this was what I was already thinking.

What Dr. Emmert did after he was goaded into taking precedent setting action was survive the best he could. His biggest failing wasn't his choice to use Freeh's report...his biggest mistake was doing anything under "rules". Memeber institutions could have voted PSU out...and LOIC would still be in the context of gaining athletic advantage...what it is now, and how it will be used...who the hell knows...but it will be a source of contention now and forever. This was not very wise, and most certainly done because Dr. Emmert and the NCAA lacked the PR skills to stay in scope in the face of immense pressure.

Well Doc Emmert, my advice would be to look beyond Steven A. Smith and Skip Bayless for advice in how to proceed...sometimes judicious punishment is really knee jerk reaction in sheeps clothing :).

3rd player to leave is backup Safety Tim Buckley. He will transfer to NC State.

Redd will announce for USC today most likely, if not tomorrow. He's talking it over with his family, and then will make his final decision. Lots of sources inside USC are saying he's a trogan.

He hung out with a lot of the players, most notably Matt Barkley and Robert Woods (you know, the anti-Trogans), and they took him to Roscoe's House of Chicken 'N Waffles Sunday evening for some dinner. If you're from L.A. and you've been there, then you know that's just not fair LOL. That joint (especially the original one in the heart of the ghetto) is not even funny. Too damn good...
