DL MVP at the Rivals Camp

He looks a lot more like an elite college football player.

Anyway we can just automatically blur out the dude on the right's face anytime he's posted on this site? Something about his face... just makes me want to punch it...

looks a lot more cut in that picture than I thought he was....

He played at a very high level in his first year of football with a lot of unhealthy weight. Now he's more experienced and in better shape. Oh my...

Holley wide open

Thomas Holley had an impressive afternoon setting the pace for the defensive line group and winning the defensive line MVP award. The 6-4, 285-pounder is still relatively raw but showed why he has become one of the most highly recruited defenders in the country.

The Top-100 prospect is still open in his recruitment, but Holley named Coach Cristobal from Alabama, Coach Sunseri from Florida State, Coach Warner from Ohio State and Coach Johnson from Penn State as coaches who have kept in touch the most throughout the past few months. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound lineman took visits to Penn State, Rutgers and Boston College this spring but has plans to take a number of visits down south this summer before he feels comfortable narrowing down his list of schools.

Wiltfong thinks Josh Frazier is the top target. Might explain why we haven't been in touch with Holley as much as other schools.

Mustipher's and Hayes' recent tweets to him support that theory. The staff probably lets our current commits know who to work on.

Personally would've loved to get Holley and solidify the NJ/NY pipeline even more. Think it will be hard to hold on to a blue chip from Arkansas when the Razorbacks staff will probably be all in on him from now until NSD.

Our staff loves the challenge. If they took all the gimme's, they wouldn't have anything to do around NSD.

Are we even sure he is a NG recruit? The latest pic of him from Rivals camp make him look more like a DE possibility, he's lost some bad weight and put on good weight since the original pics of him I saw and his film.

I agree with ya on the AR thing. Having lived there for 6 years, there is some crazy pull to go to the Hogs around there. Almost nobody has gear for any other team. Even the businesses have casual Hog days every so often. It is going to be a tough thing to even get him to campus. BUT in the staff I trust because they must have the feeling that he is legitimate interest. He probably fits the mold of our NG better too.

This is what I was thinking as well, but at the same time Nelson got an offer as a DE and he's much more of a project player so I'm not sure that Holley being just a DE rather than a DE/DT swing guy should make a difference.

Interesting. I'm trying to remember if we have had any recent players from Arkansas. I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Bartley Webb.

Top talent guys will leave the state of Arkansas-- it's definitely not a state with an impenetrable fence. Kiehl Frazier Altee Tenpenny, Zac Brooks, Lee Ziemba, Kodi Burns, and Michael Dyer recently, Mitch Mustain and Damian Williams (after a year), Broderick Green went to usc...but then transferred into Arkansas, Cortez Kennedy and Keith Jackson (going back a few years), Ryan Mallett and LaMichael James (grew up on the Texas side of Texarkana...but it's more of a Razorback town).

If you've been through Arkansas, you know why players leave. It has to be in the running for worst state in the U.S... or certainly the dirtiest. Plus there are really no "big" cities.

Edit: No offense if anyone lives there, so does a good chunk of my family.

Per II, Elston visited Holley last week to encourage him to visit this summer. Holley is planning on visiting in late June. I would think this is who the staff wants now that we are definitely taking another Dlineman.

Even before the Vanderdoes defection, we were taking at least 3 total, no? Now we need at least 4, preferably 5.

As anyone actually seen what position we are recruiting him for? Haven't see it said whether its DE (my guess) or NG?

Correct, my understanding was 2 DE and 1NG with OLB/DE. Now Holley is the perfect DE/DT swing like Hayes is and Vanderdoes was supposed to be.

5 OL
2 QB
1 RB
4 WR
5 DL
4 LB
3 DB

Any more numbers could mean another RB, OL, DL, or LB. Maybe an athlete type.
