Eh. He wanted to play RB. I don't think he really fit any of the needs at that position given the other offers out there that came out earlier. There are better fits.

Sounds like a good fit for him, following in his old man's footsteps

And he's only a sophomore. Yay.

This guy is amazing. Reading back through this thread is kind of funny. I don't think anyone realized how good he would be.

I dunno, I don't think I posted much in this thread, but in the master list thread or somewhere else I really lamented him going to Stanford and asked a bunch if we had any chance to get back in with him. I noticed him as the real deal when his team played Miciah Quick's team. It's hard to know how good someone is playing in Colorado, but he was pretty much matched up with Quick on both sides of the ball the entire game and just EMBARRASSED him. Like utterly and truly dominated Quick.... who was rated as a top 50 player at the time.

So you combine that much ability with a great head on his shoulders + great family and it's pretty much the ideal recruit.

With all that being said, I also didn't think he would be THIS good. Reminder, the '14 class is where we had Elijah Hood committed and also seemed a shoe in for Nathan Starks... neither of whom worked out. Just a shame.

Thanks for ruining my day, tried to forget that game but thanks to you it will be on my mind till Saturday. McCaffery will get his I think this game will come down to third down conversions to keep him off the field and also creating a couple turnovers that this defense desperately needs to create.

We didn't beat them even when he was out so what's the big deal?

You're right...one of your arch rivals losing their Heisman candidate running back to the NFL and not having to deal with him for one more year win or lose isn't a big deal.

He's one of the best players in the country and now we don't have to play him next year....

I get what you both are saying. My point is that we can't seem to beat them with or without him. I'm glad we don't even have to worry about him any longer, but I'm sure we'll do our best to increase the fame of whoever fills his spot. That's just what we seem to do.

we beat them in 2014 and would have beat them in 2015 if Joe Schmidt knew how to cover a TE the last 30 seconds of the game. It's not like Stanford killed us with McCaffrey.

Jaylon's injury will echo for a number of years.

I don't like players doing this...I understand why they'd want to...but this is wrong for the conference and NCAA to allow a healthy player with no academic issues to bail on a game. Scholarship language needs to address this.

Agreed - these kids absolutely have competitive mind sets and are not afraid to hit heads...but we are talking about MILLIONS of dollars here and a life changing event for the better. I don't blame them.

I understand not wanting to get hurt but if he can't fulfill his end of the athletic scholarship, Stanford should never give him a diploma.

If guys like this were smart, they'd do a colon cleanse the day of the game and say they have the flu. Much better optic.
