247 premium update. Probably the same things:

What I'm Hearing on Kc McDermott's ND Visit (Updated)

ND feels it has already been making up ground. He has seen through meetings with academic people why ND football players are successful. He has also been around players a lot and will the rest of the day. Will go to meetings with them then hang out tonight. Mom is liking what she has heard and seen so far.

Something you keep hearing over and over from different people who follow recruiting is that "he has had two years to commit to Miami," seeming to imply that they think if he really wanted to commit to Miami he would have done so already. I think that is a good point, and I think it means the door was at least a crack open for ND coming into this weekend. If he is looking for a reason to jump on board, I trust the staff to give him one. His parents being there makes it even better. Never can tell with these things, but I think we have a nice shot here.

Hiring his brother was a great move by BK. I don't think he did it with the sole purpose of luring KC and BK believes his brother has some coaching ability but definitely something I don't think BK, the politician, overlooked.

Not to mention, if his brother pans out to be a solid hire, it gives us one more Florida contact.

I don't know if its been mentioned but the ND staff found out about Tyler through KC. They didn't know about him until they were recruiting KC. In case anyone was wondering.

True. Alford was talking to KC and his dad about their football background and dad said his older brother played at CSU. Alford told them he played RB there and when dad said Tyler was looking into starting a coaching career, Alford asked for his number then called him.

Yeah it definitely smells of something Saban would do. He has hired recruits' girlfriends for football office jobs, which apparently isn't illegal. It helps a lot that Alford went to CSU and is helping a knowledgeable alumni catch a break. I'm glad Kelly did it, but let's be honest with ourselves, if Urban did the same thing we'd all be pissed.

That's really cool to be honest.

Hey, KC, I know a way you can pay back the Irish!

When I initially heard about it, I thought the same thing. However after reading KC's take on it, I changed my tune. Also considering the amount of attention to detail that it seems Kelly and the staff put into everything they do, I don't think Alford and Kelly hire his brother unless he's worthy of an opportunity.

Yep, no way would I believe that Kelly would hire any significant position for one recruit.

I thought exactly what you said above, but the difference between what Saban has done with hiring recruits' girlfriends, etc. and hiring a recruit's relative to be a coach is precisely that: it's a coach, not a meaningless office job. But still, I wouldn't like it if Urbie did it. But that's just because he's Urbie.

Eh. Grad assistant positions are the kind of job where you only give them out when you have a reason to. There's no set # or set qualifications.

If they weren't recruiting his brother he's not getting the same look. Plain and simple.

That being said, I don't think its that unethical no matter who does it.

This. With the CSU connection I don't consider this a slimy move, personally I think it's cool of Alford to reach out to a fellow alum like that, but I get that it probably looks pretty slimy to ND haters.

I'm just hoping Alford gives me that call soon someday.

Don't you have to, ya know, graduate before you can apply to be a Graduate Assistant? Most of our players are still older than you.

Hell, I went to Notre Dame and played (high school) football. Maybe they could hire me ;)

Jeff Greer of the Palm Beach Post

“@jeffgreer: Just noticing now that 2014 OL Kc McDermott used the past tense talking about his recruiting process. Seems like he already knows.”

KC to Jeff Greer:
The other thing I keep going back to, there was a point in my life when I really liked Notre Dame. My grandpa was the world’s biggest NotreDame fan. Every Saturday he woke up & turned on NBC & that was the only station he’d watch. He was born in Chicago, an Irish Catholic. It was just Notre Dame all the way. To have him in the back of my mind, knowing that if I went (to NotreDame) he’d be extremely proud and happy of me.

“@jeffgreer: One source at McDermott's high school says he'll go to #NotreDame. A #Canes source think it's a done deal to Miami. I'm going to bed.”

“@jeffgreer: Thousand words on Kc McDermott and his incredible family headed right into your kitchens in approximately a few hours.”

Dont hold me to it but I really think we get him, Wiltfongs point Rhode Irish cited keeps sticking with me.

Christian from ISD has a Florida source who has felt pretty strong about K.C. winding up at ND for some time now. This is the same source that was predicting Mason Cole to the Wolverines from the beginning.

Just want to say thanks for all the great, timely info. Looking forward to another great offensive tackle prospect in McDermott -- hope we get him.
