Hope 24/7 didn't steal Tarean's thunder by breaking this, but a huge get either way. This kid is a stud.

Folston, the nation’s No. 9 athlete, announced his decision today after Under Armour All-America Game practice at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports. The four-star prospect said the Fighting Irish fan base was a big reason he chose Notre Dame.

Awesome.

Folston Is Irish

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – When Notre Dame managed to land the commit of Florida running back Greg Bryant early last month, many figured it would hurt the Irish’s chances with Florida running back Tarean Folston, but both Folston and Cocoa High School head coach John Wilkinson maintained that if anything, it would help Notre Dame.

On Wednesday, Folston backed that stance up by committing to Notre Dame during the third practice of the week here for the Under Armour All-America Game.

The 5-foot-10, 195-pounder choose the Irish over his other finalists, Oregon and Florida State, along with a host of other offers along the way.

Folston gives the Irish 22 verbal commitments in the Class of 2013 and two running backs, along with Bryant.

Irish assistant Tony Alford identified Folston as a top target early in the process and never let up.

“It’s a great program, they’re winning,” Folston told Irish Sports Daily of Notre Dame on Monday. “They have a few backs leaving, so…I could jump right in and play with Greg Bryant, also out of Florida. It’d just be a great situation.”

He again reiterated Bryant’s commitment as a factor in Notre Dame’s favor.

“That actually helps,” he said. “All of the pressure wouldn’t be on me and I wouldn’t be taking all of the hits, we would just split the time up. I don’t mind sharing it as long as we get the job done.”

Tarean Folston and Greg Bryant- very nice RB class. #Irish

Derek Tyson‏@DerekTysonESPN

Folston & Bryant are very different type of backs. Bryant is more of a power runner while Folston is an elusive speedy back. #NotreDame #ND Folston is a really big pickup for #NotreDame, I believe he is underrated. Rushed for 1,700 yards and 16 TDs this year. #ND
