Tarean was great, and I loved the way they used him late in the season. So often over the past 6 seasons, we've seen our RB's lined up on the outside in empty sets, but rarely do they get used in that spot. They either operate as a decoy or else they motion back into the backfield (with a few exceptions for Josh Adams running go-routes).

But this year, they actually started to use that formation to get the ball to Tarean on some "now" screens to the sidelines, and he did well with them... but I think a guy like Dexter could be even more dangerous doing the same types of things.

I guess what I'm saying is that I'm sad to see Tarean go, but I'm also excited to see Dexter get extended reps finally.

I think having the opportunity to work on it every day will have him get his explosion back. He is a strong, shifty back...good vision, good at pass pro, and can catch it. Once he puts that punch back into his acceleration and cutting...he could be a really good NFL back.

I do wonder if he would have put up better numbers in 2017 with another year to recover. And would love to have had him back. We need more veteran leaders. But we've got a crowded backfield and an RB career only lasts so long. I'm sure Tarean knows that. Will be rooting for him.

I assume so...if he doesn't have lingering issues of any kind, and he is as explosive as he was...hard to come by all of those skills at once. He'll make a really good NFL back if all is well in that knee.

I agree with what everyone is saying.

Will most likely be a UDFA. But this is the right move for him. He already has his degree. Running backs have a short shelf life. And he already has had a major injury.

I don't think he will ever be a starter in the league. But he could definitely be part of a RB by committee. But, I see him being successful as a 3rd down back. Can he block/pass protect? Check. Can he catch the ball out of the backfield? Check and he can motion out of the backfield and catch passes. He could play in the slot.

Can't disagree with a thing you say, well crafted post.

But wouldn't it be wonderful if he followed a path comparable to Theo Riddick? Without the injuries of course.

Tarean is doing well with AWP in Fort Wayne. They want to get him to around 4.52 at least and coming in they said he's around a 4.6. They are excited to work on a lot of quick twitch and explosiveness because they know it's there but probably hasn't been activating like it should be. I've seen some video of some agility stuff and he looks good. Same with jaylon running 40's and he is doing very very well.

Seems like it didn't work too well. Folston has lacked that explosiveness since his injury. I hope the best for Folston. He always seemed committed and just happened to catch a bad break.

Hopefully he keeps his mind right and makes use of his degree, or better yet some team gives him a chance.

That's just terrible for Folston. I bet he gets a chance at being a camp body at least and I hope he can regain his explosiveness in the meantime.

I don't see where he signed a free agent contract. Whatever the future holds for Tarean, we wish him the best.

He'll hit all the mini-camps & try to get noticed. The common theme that seemed to hurt most of NDs undrafted guys was the lack of speed. I read where Luke, Onwualu, Folston were well below average at their positions speed-wise.

Luke and Folston simply aren't NFL level talents. Onwaualu could possibly do well enough on special teams to find a place.

I was really disappointed with Onwualu 40 at the pro day. It was something like 4.7. He should have been in the 4.6's.

Totally disagree. Luke had to take care of a large field due to injuries and inexperience. I believe very strongly that he will play NFL ball.

Luke quietly had perhaps the worst testing for any starter during the Kelly era, maybe longer. He's got a huge uphill climb. Why so confident about him, btw?

What were his testing results? I don't recall seeing them?
