I was talking with some good friends last night who are die hard Wolverines. There is certainly some doubt in where the program is headed post-Denard. The feeling is quite a bit different from last season and they mostly accept last year was a bit of a mirage for them.

I had wanted Michigan to rise up and stay strong when we had a perpetual series going with them. The games would be good, I felt we would beat them anyways, and it would help our SOS. But now that the series is going to be ending, well, F*** Michigan.

I'll say it... No, I don't think they are rising with Hoke. As I have said ad nauseam, year three is what traditionally shows what you are going to get with a coach. Do you see scUM being a contender next year? I don't....

Next season, they will be young at many of the skill positions. It is quite possible that they start Morris right away. Which will be a huge mistake, imo. Does scUM have talent? Sure, but every major program has talent. I just don't think scUM will be able to do anything with it.

I think they will end up giving Hoke 5 years, but he will ultimately be replaced. I actually like the guy, but I don't understand why people think they are trending up. They are a team in decline, and next year will be rebuilding with a lot of new faces.

Thank you wooly I completely agree. Got nothing but respect for Michigan and hoke but other than Denard they are nothing. There struggling against Minnesota today. They got a great staff but a lack of elite defense talent and skill positions will hurt them.

Does anyone remember AQM's original rankings by the recruiting services? I think I remember him being higher, but moving down a bit due to not really participating in the camps circuit and what not.

Also, obviously the biggest factor is our staff wanting him and a number of other excellent staffs wanting him, but I'm just curious.

Totally agree. I actually like Hoke, too. But even last year I didn't think they were any good and stumbled into a good season with some luck (the ND game) and a horrible schedule (the rest of the their season). You could see this type of season coming for them from a mile away. The law of averages demanded it. Next year will probably be worse.

I do think that Hoke can coach; the question will be whether he hangs on long enough for this '13 class to be upperclassmen. They might not be good again until then.

Last season Michigan was possibly one of the luckiest teams I had ever witnessed...

Hoke and his staff are good recruiters, but I feel like they are making a huge mistake with this "no visits to other schools" thing.

people keep saying it on here. Michigan had a lucky season last year... they were not a 11 win quality team, they just lucked into. This season has brought them back down to earth and without Denard, Michigan is nothing to worry about.

I hate Michigan as much as any ND fan, but I think Denard is a class act and an amazing player. If DickRod would have stayed at Michigan he would have had off the chart stats and gone down as one of the best players in college football history. That said, I think there is a distinct possibility that they will be a much better team without Denard Robinston. Hoke needs a quarterback that fits his offense. If he gets one, I think they will be pretty good under the current coaching staff.
