Well, I feel I have to say this to reverse the inevitable jinx I'm putting on this team for tomorrow's game. ND is 6-0 since I moved to South Bend after 38 years of living in Southern California. I've been to all 3 home games and screamed my head and didn't sit down once, I went to several practices (outside, of course), been to the campus a million times, my wife got a job at ND etc etc etc. It's been great!

But when I got hired in August at a school in a nearby city, I saw that they have a fall break for this very week. What a great time to visit my dad, my buddies, and my former students! Or so I thought. I knew I'd be missing a home game, but I really missed my people down here in the L.A. area, and it was a perfect time to visit without missing work.

Of course, now ND is 6-0, and the flight was already booked back in August, and here I am, sitting in Rancho Cacamunga (what's up Chris Hawkins?) on my way to L.A. later on, with the full knowledge that if ND loses to BYU tomorrow, it's on me.

Sorry fellas...you can put the blame on me if things don't go according to script!

I have been very careful to tell you all along the streak was due to you being a South Bend RESIDENT. That does not change just because you are traveling. I was very intentional to not say the streak was due to you being IN South Bend. There is a difference. Enjoy the warm weather while you can.

Have fun and travel safe!!!

LOL. Don't worry Hollywood ... we have a secret weapon defensively ...

My daughter was born about 5 weeks ago, in the wee hours of the morning of September 9, i.e. the night after the Purdue game. In her lifetime no opponent has scored an offensive touchdown against us. Coincidence? I think not!!! She's obviously a defensive good luck charm.

It's ok. The real reason that ND is winning is because I wear the same ND jersey and pants to the gym at the time each Friday. I'm on schedule. ND should be good to go.

Thats ok ND is 6-0 when I wear the same ND shirt on sundays after wins and buy my beer on friday night, going to pick up my beer here soon. But yeah at least I know if the worst happens its not because my rituals have worn out. On a serious note have an enjoyable and safe trip.

You're practically OMM's age, bro!

Seriously though, enjoy L.A. and being home amongst family and friends-- the best things in life.

If this were OU week, I would have told you to cancel your trip, but BYU week should be fine to tempt to fate. Unless they lose...then don't EVER think about coming around these parts again!

After seeing this thread, it's pretty apparent that ND's resurgence has nothing to do w/ coaching, player development, or hours and hours of hard work by the players and staff. It's all us. Congrats IE!

I got this......I'll watch the entire game with a roll of duct tape resting on my head, and walk around the house all night counting "1-2-3" as I turn everything on and off 3 times.

*I'm as superstitious as the next guy, but this team wins because they are good, not because of the weird ticks all us fans have. Enjoy the trip, and the boys will be just fine with you watching from a bar or living room. GO IRISH!

If ND loses, I hope your plane crashes on the way back. It is because of my rituals that they are winning. Or the fact that the defense is ridiculous and the offense figured out they want to keep the ball.

Don't worry, LA...Im convinced that in the year that I become a father for the first time with twins, we're going to win it all.

My son was born less than 2 weeks before the Navy game. He game out 3 weeks before his due date just to make sure he could witness the resurgence of the Irish. Congrats, fellas... it's like we're a part of the team!

NDinLA,
Don't worry, your living/being in the South Bend area has no bearing on the 6-0 start. None of the other IE superstitions have an impact either. I know for a fact though, that IE did play a monumental role in the great start.

Back in early September (Denard thread IIRC), a comment was made about needing to outscore Michigan to win the game. I have heard from reliable sources that a senior staffer highlighted that post to Coach Kelly, prompting CBK to say: "WTF; in 20+ years as a Head Coach I had never thought about trying that. It is so simplistically diabolical, that it just may work".

Please delete this post after reading though, as we wouldn't want to have any other teams catch on.
