Well, I feel I have to say this to reverse the inevitable jinx I'm putting on this team for tomorrow's game. ND is 6-0 since I moved to South Bend after 38 years of living in Southern California. I've been to all 3 home games and screamed my head and didn't sit down once, I went to several practices (outside, of course), been to the campus a million times, my wife got a job at ND etc etc etc. It's been great!
But when I got hired in August at a school in a nearby city, I saw that they have a fall break for this very week. What a great time to visit my dad, my buddies, and my former students! Or so I thought. I knew I'd be missing a home game, but I really missed my people down here in the L.A. area, and it was a perfect time to visit without missing work.
Of course, now ND is 6-0, and the flight was already booked back in August, and here I am, sitting in Rancho Cacamunga (what's up Chris Hawkins?) on my way to L.A. later on, with the full knowledge that if ND loses to BYU tomorrow, it's on me.
Sorry fellas...you can put the blame on me if things don't go according to script!
