Aw crap I just spent the past 30 minutes talking myself into why Rees would be the smart start. :)

That's good to hear! I will say this though, if Tommy eve does have to step in and start, I am fine with it. No matter what I will always support whoever is in the game for us! I am way too much of a homer but there is nothing as a fan that I as well as all of you have not already had to deal with with this team. Irish till I die!

Love this attitude. What's the fun in being a fan if everything the team does makes you miserable? Optimism is the only way to go.

That's what makes this 4-0 start so sweet! Keep on trucking!

Imo telling Golson he isn't that starter would have been the silver spike in his heart.

I know some of you think if his confidence can be hurt that easy he isn't meant to be qb at Notre Dame and all that other sports jargon but let's really look at it.

True competitors relish those game on the line moments and they haven't let Golson live in those moments twice now. Not saying he shouldn't have been pulled just staying facts.

Then when you are about to face a weak defense where you can establish the run, which was the case against Navy and Golson's best game, you don't start him?

Is a kid supposed to feel good about himself after all that?

Now if he did something to deserve not starting obviously this is a different story, but no facts about that yet and Kelly stated Golson is still the man so this is all moot.

End rant.

As usual, Coach ends our feeble lucubrations by saying several of the best possible things:

A). Everett starts --- NATURALLY [time to get the whizkid a bunch of game reps while the old capable gunslinger waits to bail us out again if necessary --- the perfectly designed strategy];
B). Amir redshirts --- NATURALLY [since we don't need the dazzle yet there and the injury hangs on stubbornly];
C). Kyle to do all the kicking next year {Kelly has fingers crossed behind his back} --- HOPEFULLY [meaning that they KNOW they have some REALLY good shots at some elite last spot recruits and don't want to use a spot for a punter].

"Now THAT's what I'M talkin' about!!"

As an aside: Both Trevor Matich and Robert Smith think that a]. our defense is really for real in athletes physical specimens speed etc. I note that Shembo and Nix are being mentioned alongside Te'o and Tuitt now; b]. we're for real, but will have to face a good Miami offense especially as to gunslinging.

I love our front seven! The guy that I am most impressed with though is Shembo! If that kid keeps it rolling and builds off this first 3rd of the season he will be something special! It looks to me the light has turned on!

I have to agree with the Shembo statement because I think we all kind of expected Tuitt and Nix to dominate but having Shembo off the edge has been the icing on my cake. Maybe my personal fave sack of the year was when he bullrushed a 300+ lb. left tackle from michigan state and sacked Maxwell (priceless)

I mean their interior line sucked anyways so I doubt it's a big drop off (if any at all) to the next guy.

Corey King is the back up he is a redshirt frosh that was a two star recruit according to rivals and only other offer was Florida
International.
Corey King - Yahoo! Sports

If Golic let's this guy blow up our zone run we need to seriously think about who is starting at guard.

I love this. The Irish fanbase is much like the Bears-the backup QB is the most loved player on the team!

-I really hope that we can establish the run, giving some serious reps to the RBs. Obviously, the impact on Golson playing with a good running game is positive development. Looking forward to this game.

-On the flip side, I believe with da U's offensive production, we will continue to find out about how well the DBs have been progressing. I can see them playing well, but maybe not great.

-Re: Kelly's comments and if he gives out clues on hiding information. He has shown clusters of deceptive behavior (meaning hiding info re: players)-he has shown it in the past during press conferences (AL anyone?) but I haven't seen it (this behavior) re: the QB discussion during this past week.

I'm looking forward to this game and am still concerned. Alot of confidence here but I feel the team still has a way to go in establishing consistency with the run, the progression of Golson, and gaining experience in the secondary.

Anxiously awaiting Sunday morning when I can watch the game!

I know. I just thought it was funny the first thing that popped up was a photo of Theo. Good read though.

It was a mistake, but lets be real here. The SBT is a friend to Notre Dame, they actually have much better reporting than national media on our squad. They are the anti-Chi-Town Tribune.
