Great post by LA....I've got to agree completely on this. I've been guilty of bashing a certain 18 year old kid who wanted to play at ND. I still feel badly for my rude comments on the young man, which made me take a step back and realize that these ARE 17-18 year old kids trying to do what they feel is best for themselves. No reason, and I mean no reason whatsoever to bash kids for chasing their dream. I feel no ill will towards Darby or Deontay. I just don't, as LA pointed out, we love kids who decommit from said school to play football for ND. Let Ebenezer have his time in the sun to figure out what is best for him.

I am not sure he has the personality or character to fit in at Notre Dame.

Edit: Let me make this clear. When I used the word character above I wasn't high on drugs, or otherwise inebriated. I might as well have been. In my attempt not to interject too much of my personality into my suppostion I tried to be vague on purpose. I shouldn't have been. I do not have the right to judge a person. I did not nor do I mean 'high' or 'low' character. Nor did I mean deficite of character. What I meant was best described as personality. My statement should have been: "I am not sure he has the personality to fit in at Notre Dame." That would have come to closer to my meaning

Or at least I could have used the word traits. Character traits, like, as seen in behaviors.

For example, if someone goes to the edge of a diving board, sticks their toes over, then walks back and dismounts a couple of times waits around for the wind to change direction, the crowds do disperse, and the sun go behind the clouds, these things may all help him to perform more succssfully. But those behaviors may not sell me on that person. I may want someone who is less timid. Someone who is doing less learning or evaluating on the run.

I don't even know if this is what EO has going on; maybe he just wanted to work himself into a position where he played with his cousin. Maybe he doesn't know what he wants. For what is exciting me about prospects coming to ND, that isn't it. None of it is. Jaylon, Corey, Hunter, etc are pretty assured. Even Alex going down to Friday Night Lights in Fla., wanting to see how he stacked up to their linebackers is okay.

But if he had just said. Wow, this is like a party! I don't know what I want, but when I find it I will let everybody know. That would have been okay. But the way things changed for him, it always seemed like he knew what he wanted and was holding a piece back . . .

I've never seen a kid who has a ND offer and that the coaches are obviously recruiting and who has ND in his top 3, get as much heat from irishenvy members as this kid. I've erased so many posts talking crap about this kid, it's ridiculous. Tired of losing the fight, so I let it go awhile ago. Apparently people are fine with taking shots at this kid, warranted or not...

Hold on, what does that make a kid like Gunner Kiel? What he did was far worse than what Ebenezer has done (if anything, he's learned from his mistake by NOT committed again when he wasn't sure.) But it's OK for Kiel b/c he's Irish? What about Anzalone? Committed to OSU, then decommitted, then committed to ND, then went to FNL at Florida, still 100% committed to ND apparently. It's OK for him though? How about Nick Martin? Committed to Kentucky for almost the entire process, said he was 100% to them, never wavered, and then ND offered, he waited a couple of months, then finally decommitted from Kentucky and came to ND, late in the process, leaving Kentucky to fill a void very late. Why aren't ND fans ripping him?

ND's roster is filled with kids who changed their minds, a lot of them starters. And yet we pick and choose who 'gets it' and who has character issues...

This is why i avoid the boards so much now. I think we all know that he is young, naive, and just barely learning the recruiting process. Some take this as a personal attack. These are high school kids being lied to, and wooed by people they look up to. Honestly, ND coaches lie too. I love ND and haven't missed a game since i was a kid but people take this **** way too seriously.

Glad you haven't lost that voice of reason in my absence my Spanish brotha.

Dude looks like he eats quarterbacks and running backs for breakfast.

Do want. If he wants to date my future daughter I'll sit him down and judge.. Football wise, I'll leave it to the staff.

This 100%.

All I was saying is that with only 5-6 spots [currently] left, we have the luxury to be a little picky. I could say that I want them all equally and let them all in, but that is not the case, nor is it possible. I still think the kid can ball and if he chooses to come to ND, I will welcome him with open message board comments. As for now, I just have my reservations. But as gK said, I trust the staff 100% and I know they know more in their pinky finger than I do about this kid and if they want him, okay then.

AA shouldnt effect Ebenezer's recruitment, but I am surprised ND is not on that list.

(If he based his college decision on what you or I said, he shouldn't be considering Notre Dame.)

I am more interested to hear why anone on this site thinks any recurit would think we were more than the insignificant @ssholes that wer are.

To be honest, I'm 18 and if I were to read constant negative things by fans about me and my charecter and abilities i would be much more self-concious and that could/would affect my decision. Confidence and Acceptance is huge in recruiting and if a recruit doesn't feel welcomed it is a negative.

I'm not trying to bash or offend you, but acceptance by random dudes on the internet should not be a factor in a college decision. If it was by the coaching staff, the administration, the players, or someone with a tie to the university or team I could see it but random dudes on the internet? Nah.

I just don't get why everyone is so offended by the internet, especially young people who broadcast their lives on facebook, twitter, myspace, tumblr, etc. If you put it out there then you need to learn to deal with it. The internet is not the problem, it's the searching for self worth that people unrealistically put into things that should have no bearing on their self worth.

It shouldn't but it might have. No one knows yet. You'd honestly be suprised at how self-concious some people are and how much one negative comment affects them. It is possible,

If we are out, I wonder if he read this thread?

Then I guess he also read something he didn't like on UCon's thread since he decommitted from there. A Bama thread must have also been offending as they were one of his favs at one time.

Couldn't have had anthing to do with commitments/slots open/competition for those slots.

GT, PU, and Vandy aren't getting visits either. Wow, none of the schools with gold helmets are getting an OV, hmmm.

Lookin' for love in all the wrong places . . .

Look how the class of '11 worked out; and how some freshmen '12's are off the chart! Especially after the defections. Watch how the defectors turn out. '13 seems to be even more single minded. For me it really is about love. Have you ever had a time when you had a party that you didn't invite someone because they would have such a bad time? I am not just talking about not fitting in, I mean a really bad time, and be miserable? These guys for most of the time Kelly has been recruiting are single purposed and highly driven. I can tell you there was one recruit in this class that didn't have it together at first, but now he is with the plan.

Dude Elmer has been the most rock solid of recruits. Elmer for a fact sabotaged any further recruiting effort by other coaches from other programs. As did a whole lot of this class. I chuckle when people expect certain members of the Irish Mob to defect. I will tell you this I was talking with one member in April and he had developed unspoken communication with another member, that I wasn't a bother, who was ready to give me the bum's rush.

I am talking about someone who became enamored with the offers coming in for a quick second, so don't start a rumor! Just understand my analogy.

Not starting a rumor. I was asking. Notice the punctuation bogs. Your reply to my question made your initial post less kryptic. Thanks :)

Wasn't talking to you. Was talking to the yet unknown person who reads this thread and sees the fodder without the context. (And that is how rumors start.) Did you figure out who I was talking about. No names, just yes or no, unless you PM me.

We have greater needs in other areas IMHO. Don't care at all for the drama with this guy. We honestly have bigger fish to fry, like trying to get one of each between Moore and Alexander. If we end up somehow with this kid, then awesome. But in all honesty, there are way too many other guys out there that piqué my interest more.
