IMO part of the reason Bradley has struggled is the fact we haven't had a target forward on the field. It takes away one of the best facets of his game. Even if Altidore can only go 55 or heck only 30, I think it will have a huge impact on the game.

France certainly deserved the win but disappointing to see it come on the strength of two crappy goals. The first was piss-poor goalkeeping (if you come off your line like that on a corner you gotta get the ball) and the second will go down as an own goal.

ND 23 (Or anyone with any knowledge here)... From past dialogues it seems like you are the guy to ask here... as avid a fan I am of the MNT I don't follow the U-20s at all...

1.) Do you follow the U-20s enough to really know much?
2.) Do you agree with link?
3.) Can you provide any more info on any of the listed players?
4.) Would you add anyone? (Including Domestically??)

Side Q… does anyone know the status of Joshua Gatt? He was starting to come on a bit before he got hurt.

1. I do follow the U-20s. Just began closely following it the past U-20 World cup
2. I somewhat agree with the link. 1 is definitely Julian Green. But 2 is definitely Junior Flores. He is going to be on the first team with Borussia Dortmund this coming year. Rubio Rubin I would put at 3. I wouldn't have Kyle Scott on that list because I think there is a decent chance he will choose England, I am pretty sure he(along with his brother Kris who is also a prospect) have lived there their entire lives.

3. I suggest going to .:: Yanks Abroad ::. or USA Youth National Teams Forum at big soccer. Some very knowledgable folks over there.

4. Names not on the list that I would definitely include in the top 10 of most promising are Eric Palmer-Brown who already plays for SKC, Gedion Zelalem(Arsenal) who is likely to choose the US who will probably end up being better than Julian Green, and Kellyn Acosta who already starts for FC Dallas at age 18. A few others to watch, but not necessarily will ever be locks for the USMNT talent level are Jordan Allen(MF for Real Salt Lake, but got injured), Zach Pfeffer, Russell Canouse, and Cody Cropper(not sure if he is a u20 to be honest).

From what I hear about Josh Gatt, he is recovering nicely and should be able to play again soon. He is another player that has massive potential.

Vermalean is out, Kompany is in doubt, Defour is suspended, Altidore will be available.

EDIT: Vanden Borre, Fellaini, and Dembele has minor knocks as well.

All good news for the US.

Game day!

This is the most excited I have been for any game since the 2012 NC. Hopefully this has a better result than that!

Pulling for the Swiss. Not looking ahead, but in the event we advance, would much rather play them.

What about "if we want to be the best we have to play the best and take on all comers" and that nonsense from the ND-Georgia thread? Not saying you feel that way, but I bet there are more than a few posters who feel exactly the same way you do about wanting the USA's path through the world cup as easy as possible, while also thinking ND should make things unnecessarily difficult for themselves in scheduling.

Meh. It's not like strength of schedule really matters at this point. I'd rather be "the worst team to ever make it to a world cup final" than get eliminated in the round of 16.

In regards to CFB, SOS is obviously important, while it is not in this situation. But I also don't want ND to play something insane like 2019 or whenever it is. It's not fair to the players or even the coaches.

Drmic with the poorest attempt at a shot yet in this tournament.

DiMaria had a bad one just after, but Drmic should come off for that travesty. Just didn't even come close.

I guess it sounds better than "somewhere between a centimeter and a meter from tying a round of 16 game"

I've got to say that Argentina and Switzerland don't have me quivering in my boots.

Agreed. Neither team is really that good. But both teams have players who can beat you with sudden acts of individual brilliance -- namely Messi and Shaqiri, "the Apline Messi."

Unfuckingbelievable.

It was about time for DiMaria to do something in this World Cup.
