Gonzales will not be venturing forward at all. Looks like Bradley and Besler will be marking Mueller. Dis gone be gud!

Why no Geoff Cameron though? He made a couple really big mistakes against Portugal but generally played well. Were the big mistakes enough?

Some of us are a little worried about Gonzales marking Ze Germans.

Davis is not real fleet of foot either but he is wicked good at serving up apple pie in the box.

My thought is that Klinsman wants to win headers all game at both ends of the field.

It seems like an unnecessary shakeup. Brad Davis has not played yet in this World Cup. Gonzalez played only briefly, coming on for a midfielder when we were trying to add another defender to protect our lead against Portugal.

But California Klinsy has earned my trust. I assume he has good reason for the changes.

I can only surmise that they were that bad. Maybe he did not recover well enough since Portugal. Maybe mentally he is not there after that last goal...? I trust Klinsman. I am ok with Davis. Not so much with Gonzales.....

One guy on ESPN says deals are somewhat normal in soccer, not part of the rules but kind of unspoken stuff. Is this true?

Let's just say it's not unheard of.

The final two matches in every group are played simultaneously because in 1982, Austria and West Germany basically just passed it around once Germany scored the goal that ensured that both teams would go through.

There's an economics articles about collusion in sumo wrestling that ties happen all the time when one wrestler will advance and the other needs a win. Wouldn't be surprised at all.
