I've got Columbia 2-1 in my Yahoo pool. They are pretty much a lock for 1st as long as CDI doesn't beat the Pirate Ship by 4. Japan has nothing to lose and will play with pride so they won't be able to totally rest, but I do think they sub a bunch.

I'd love to think that Germany will rest a bit, but knowing their depth (even if they sub a lot) it could be ugly......., and thinking they would prefer to go into the knockout round with some mojo (after a poor showing vs Ghana), I'm at this point hoping for a Portugal/Ghana draw or narrow Portugal win.

I didn't know it either until some of my Euro buddies sent me a few Greek National Jerseys and T-Shirts.... I'm German/Italian so one of my Greek buddies decided to compete with two of my other pals (in Germany and Italy) and send me more gear.

Nicknames[edit]

Traditionally, Greece is referred to by the media and the Greeks in general simply as Ethniki, which means National. The team is often called Galanolefki (Sky blue-white) due to its kit colours which are also the colours of the Greek flag. Both nicknames are used for the country's national teams in other sports as well. During the opening ceremony in the UEFA Euro 2004, which took place before the inaugural game of the tournament between Greece and hosts Portugal, a replica of a 16th century ship was used referring to the Portuguese expeditions of that time. Obviously a draw is what we are rooting for but as I said earlier there is very little chance that happens. You will see some wacky shit at the end of that game because both teams are going to try and score. Ghana might leave one guy back and bring everyone else up at the 83 minute mark or so. It's going to be crazy.

You will see some wacky shit at the end of that game because both teams are going to try and score. Ghana might leave one guy back and bring everyone else up at the 83 minute mark or so. Portugal is the best break away team out there and will make them pay if they play heavy up front. All 4 teams will be paying close attention to the other's score on Thursday. Being a huge fan of both the US and Germany, I hope both teams catch a 24 bug and shit themselves all day, unable to pass the ball more than once without squirting down their legs.

Right now I'm just hoping Gli Azzurri can make it past La Celeste tomorrow at noon. That's my Tuesday wish..... My Wednesday wish is that Benzema, Giroud, Valbuena, and Matuidi all break their big toes... Fuck the French.

That ball boy one pissed me off... I saw that the day it happened... Kid grabs the ball, falls on it and won't let the away team play the ball... All in an effort to stall the game in which his home team had the lead... Disgraceful... I had no problem at all with the player jarring the ball... Should have been a red card on the home team IMO, stop this 'influencing the game' garbage right there. And for those on the 'never kick a kid' bus, 'never have a stupid kid on the field then'
