Good responses filled with insight. What I would like would be a pool of home grown talent. Captain obvious here.... Lol!

When the kids find out they do not have to go to NCAA playskool for three years and make a good paycheck there will be movement. ;)

We really should be developing the lower leagues for a good relegation system. The U.S. Open Cup should be a bigger deal. Instead I have the Galaxy II side coming to play my Battery.

A bunch of NASL teams beat MLS teams over the weekend including the Cosmos over the Red Bulls, but I understand your point. Even if it meant only have 16-18 teams instead of 20 plus at the top level, relegation has to be the goal for MLS in the next 20 years. You have bottom feeding clubs like Chivas USA with no right in MLS

Had no idea about USL Pro and NASL and their levels within US Soccer. Eye opening conversation. However, I am familiar with youth house, travel and indoor leagues!! Haha!

Knowledge growing. Irrelevant trivia leaving.

Wasn't the EPL at 18 teams for a long time before going to 20? It's doable. I think it would do a lot for people to get excited about a local club.

I heard a Klinsman interview on Sports Center. Made a very valid point for European born players having an advantage because of the soccer farm leagues starting so young there. Would love to hear thoughts from others on ways we could get our natural borne up to their "level" and still go to college.

Pulling for the Ivory Coast and Uruguay today. Uruguay winning would create a clusterfuck in that group, and I just really like Didier Drogba and hope the IC advances.

That's a great point, and a great question. Kids in Europe drop out of school as early as 14 to focus on sports exclusively, don't they? It's not just soccer. This is why you see some highly skilled basketball players come out of Europe, too. (I always compare U.S./Europe in basketball to Brazil/Europe in soccer ... we are better at developing the artistry and the athleticism; they are better at developing the skill.) As long as we insist that our athletes stay in school, I think it will be tough for us to compete. I would love to see sports and school diverge in the U.S., because too often the one corrupts the other, but of course that would mean the end of what has brought us together, ND football.

Once Drogba is subbed in, its over for the Colombians.

My thinking as well. I know Lamouchi does not believe he's fit for a full 90 minutes, but I'm a bit surprised he was not introduced at the half. When does he enter the match? My guess is the 60' mark.

What a weak attempt by my Yaya Toure. No power and it wasn't even on target.

I agree that he will come in between 60-70

Woh. Very nice counter!

These last 20-some minutes will be Ivory Coast pouring it on and Colombia countering. I don't know if the Ivorians have two goals in them...
