Someone earlier mentioned Loy put a list of who he thinks the class wraps up with. Anyone care to share?

5-7 more is the guess right?

I hope we see: Hamlin, McKinley, McCullogh, Kelly. Then one of Long/Fuller. The last two spots are hard to say, but would like 1 to go to Okonya and then one some sort of late interior DL flip.

How many DB's do we need this class? Elliot, Love, Morgan, Vaughn, Perry and now Studstill. That gives us 6, are any of them slated at other positions?

Also does anyone know out of these players, which ones are pure corners?

Best thing about this group is the amoun I versatility within the group. Perry and Morgan are most likely hybrid SS/LB guys. Vaughn is being recruited as a CB but could play FS. As of now it's Love and Vaughn as CB's that's why pride and or Hamlin are important

I think Love and Vaughn are corners. Elliot could be a swing player. Morgan can be a safety and olb?

Sounds like 6 spots left.

McKinley
McCollough
Pride Jr.
Jonathan Jones
Jonah Morris
Hamlin

Would love to see D. Robertson & C. Kelly but would sleep soundly with the above 6

Yeah, Robertson isn't happening. Great job by the staff to get him on campus and stick it through, but it just wasnt in the cards for us there.

I haven't heard enough to say how solid our chances are with McCollough and Kelly, which is why I think adding Jonathan Jones would be fantastic, as I dont see us pulling all 3 of Daelin, McCollough and Kelly. 2 max.

Jones fits Nicely with Daelin and one of Kelly/McCoullough would be icing.

Id to switch Jonah Morris with Okonya.

already a very nice DB class, could be unbelievable. LB class has VERY high potential but i see it ending good not great (hope im wrong).

Not sure how anyone could grumble about that finish. Swap Kelly for Morris, and we might really be on to something!

Am I the only one who thinks that Morris' highlights are more impressive than Kelly's?

I'll tell ya, i woudn't be disappointed if we ended up with Morris and Jones as our final two LB's in the class at all. Like i said in another thread, i am excited about all of the remaining targets in ND's board.

Oops, I meant Johnathan Jones, not Morris.

I had a built-in assumption that Kelly was playing a much higher level of competition which was why the highlights may not be drastically better than Morris', but that may be inaccurate. I also think that bringing in 2 5 star LBs will pay some dividends just from a cache standpoint with other recruits though.

Yes, probably. Morris and Jones both look good but Kelly's first step and range are...top tier. He'd be able to cover a lot of ground for us in the 4-3 which is necessary when you have LBs on slot receivers.

I prefer athletes and Kelly is pure athlete.

just curious, what "position group" worries you guys the most over next 3-4 years?

love Adams...but for me it's RB.

Until I see a Safety that has a PHD in nuclear physics or BVG leaves or changes schemes my biggest concern is Safety.

-Has to be safety in the near term. We'll likely be relying on a freshman to play at least some next year, and if Redfield and/or Tranquill goes down we could easily find ourselves starting two true freshman.

-Not worried at all about RB in the near term, and my guess is if we have another year rushing the football like we did this year, we get a high 4* RB in the class of 2017.

-Corner might be an issue if Coleman, Watkins, Love, Elliott, etc. all fail to pan out but that doesn't seem very likely.

-QB also has the potential to turn into a nightmare quickly if Wimbush transfers, but hopefully BK has a plan to manage Zaire, Kizer and Wimbush.

-We've got a ton of depth and/or guys on the way at TE, OT, OG, C, WR, DT, DE, and LB.

Barring a catastrophic meltdown of our 2016 class and 2017 class, I'm really not overly worried about any position long term.

Adams breaking out has eased my mind quite a bit, and Dexter Williams certainly has the tools. Still would ease my mind even more if we could pick up an elite talent next cycle. Safety still needs bodies and talent.

Safety and pass rushing DE. We need to be able to generate pressure without "exotic" blitzes and we need to see improved safety play.

If one or both of those occur, we'll see our defense take a monster leap forward.

Now that Jaylon 'the eraser' is gone, I hope our LBs play assignment football.

I originally meant Jones, and Jones looks very fast for a linebacker and hits with violence. I don't see that with Kelly, which gives me flashbacks of Danny Spond getting trucked by Eddy Lacy (not a shot at Spond, he was a great player for us).

Next goes to hopes/expectations for McKinley on January 9th at Army All-American bowl.

Hopefully the five ND commits presence will provide good vibes that will rub off on his West teammate Caleb Kelly. Others ND players include: Tony Jones, Tommy Kraemer, John Shannon, and Daelin Hayes.

Meanwhile OU, the presumed competition for Kelly's services, will not have the same peer pressure available with Chanse Sylvie their loan commit in attendance. They do have another likely commit in the works in Tramonda Moore, who is from Oklahoma City. Oklahoma State is making a late push but OU still leads. This is an off year for OU at the Army game however. Kentucky, for comparison, is represented by three commits in the game.

I think we will get great news at the army bowl with Javon McKinley and Kelly will be landing the most talented WR he's ever signed.
