My HS had a baseball coach that supposedly kept a library of home sex tapes that you could access if you contributed to. Called it "the archive" and avoided jail because everyone in the videos they found was 18+, but still gives me the creeps to think about. He ended up getting fired for coke possession and his life spiraled out of control. He could be the poster boy of terrible decisions by professional athletes. He went from NFL starter to S&C coach for a HS baseball team to drug addicted pedophile.

BERWICK — The Vo-Tech teacher accused of groping a female student waived his right to a hearing and will face charges of indecent assault and lewd harassment in county court.

Gary R. Beveridge, 55, of Northumberland, arrived at District Judge Richard Knecht’s office Thursday morning with his wife, mother and one of his daughters.

In the packed waiting room, two groups of supporters — one for Beveridge and another for his alleged victim — waited for the 10 a.m. hearing. Moments before it was set to start, Fran Fraley, Victim Witness Coordinator for Columbia County, led a triumphant crowd, which included the victim and her family, through the throng in the waiting room and out into the parking lot. The girl’s supporters in the waiting room followed.

Outside, the group hugged and high-fived in an impromptu celebration, leaving a stunned and confused crowd inside.

Those who remained quietly filed in the courtroom, as Beveridge and his family took their seats. Beveridge, sitting alongside his attorney, Marc Lovecchio, signed the paperwork, sending the case to court.

Knecht reminded Beveridge to get fingerprinted, and pointed out that staying out of trouble was part of his bail conditions.

“Now that doesn’t mean speeding tickets,” Knecht clarified.

“Oh, I’m driving slowly,” Beveridge quickly assured the judge.

When asked about the hearing, both Lovecchio and the Beveridges refused to comment.

Beveridge is accused of inappropriately touching the 17-year-old several times, and telling the girl she was “hot” and that he masturbated to her photo.

Got caught texting and "fooling around" with a 16 year old female student. Stupid stupid decision on his part. She initiated everything, but he fucked up bad. Had a wife and a child and another on the way when he got caught.

Went to jail but he's still a close friend of mine. Says getting caught was the best thing that ever happened to him and changed him as a person. It did.

When I was in high school, a teacher was fired for buying booze and having sex with students. A few years later, his younger brother was caught hooking up with a 16 year old student at school. Neither faced charges because all the girls were above the age of consent in Indiana. Their parents must be proud.

I think you made the prudent move haha... we had an issue really similar to this in high school. Guy graduated from college and came back as a 21/22 year old to teach physics/coach track. Didn't end well.

The worst for me was that my roommate's girlfriend was still a senior at another Catholic school in the diocese, so she and her friends would come out drinking with us and one of her best friends wanted me to take her to their prom. Nope . Cockblock via shot put. My 24-yr old self doesn't mind, but 19-yr old Buster did. Haha

I went to boarding school and anyone that is familiar with prep schools knows that they hire many young teachers fresh out of college. Makes for some pretty interesting stories. I won't go into details, but I probably know of over ten instances of teacher/student relationships.

Sadly, this is all too common, and the result of severe mental health issues. It's difficult to diagnose before the crime has been done, but there needs to be more of an effort to identify the problem proactively. It's all just very disheartening. Imagine all those instances in which it goes undetected. I have several stories, but too personal to share.

Did you not read my post? In the Diocese of Toledo, they kept a list of the dispossession of pregnancies by priests. (Most were abortions.)

And I have to agree with Pachuco, most of this represents forays into areas of mental ill health. Most of us look at that as something alien to ourselves and our worlds. And we don't understand how people could slip so far astray into some of these things. It is simple. Some grow up with experiences that life is one way or another, and it happens to be a lie., a major distortion of reality. The disease affects start when that person begins to act in increasingly abhorrent ways to keep their distorted reality in tact.
