WR from CA, committed to Washington, just visited for the SC game.

Erik Brown WR for Cali, committed to Washington

Erik brown WR Washington commit. Good player could play WR or DB. IMO is better than Corey Holmes

In case you didn't hear it elsewhere, Erik Brown. I think he is a Husky commit, but someone else here can verify that.

Isn't there a Washington commit that the staff is recruiting?

Guys wasn't there a Washington commit visiting?

Would we take Brown and Quick?

Well, my understanding is Brown doesn't have a committable offer till we know what some guys higher on our list are going to do. Not sure whether that means we wouldn't take both Brown and Quick. I mean, say Tranquill commits tomorrow. We would still take Morgan. But if Morgan commits tomorrow, I don't think we would take Tranquill, at least not right away. That might open a spot up for someone else.

Not sure about that. We need bodies at ILB. Even if Moore returns for a 5Y and Randolph starts inside, we'd still need to take 3 in this class to get back to ideal depth. Tranquill, Martini and Morgan would be perfect.

Regarding Brown, when the staff referred to "guys higher on our list", Quick is probably chief among those higher priority recruits. Our numbers are good at WR, so if Quick verbals, I don't think Brown gets an offer. We may still take him late as a "best available" type thing, though.

Ideal finish IMO:

Tranquill pops after his last Purdue visit
Luatua commits a few days after Alabama visit
Juju
Quick
Mama all commit at the same time at an all star event
Hendix
Watkins commit together at the banquet
Holley comes with Hayes and commits at the banquet
Morgan
Elam commit on signing day

Don't mind me, I'm drunk watching the WS! But 10 of the best recruits in the country....? Make room!

Assuming no attrition, taking that many would result in a final class size of 27, which means no 5Ys. 2-3 transfers/ medicals are likely, but that's still a very aggressive prediction.

Lombard's injury and Hendrix's poor play does make the 5th year pool a little murkier. I don't think there is a single stone cold lock now from the pool. We obviously bring back Lombard if healthy, but besides that we would be bringing back guys just for depth purposes (Hendrix, Collinsworth, Moore, etc) rather than projected starters.

The only one of those three that I'm extremely comfortable losing is Lombard. The depth/talent on the OL is tremendous and with the return of Golson, ND won't need a stonewall and can afford some growing pains.

Moore seems like a lock regardless. ND will need the depth and experience at ILB even if they land both Morgan and Tranquill.

Hendrix is a toss up, but I'd say yes to a 5Y mainly due to the injury risk with Golson. Unless the staff trusts Zaire's development, I think they need Hendrix as a semi-reliable backup just due to his experience, not necessarily his production.

To sum up: Moore, Hendrix, Lombard...in that order, IMO

The roller coaster of recruiting. We are now riding high.....but I am sure we will have a classic meltdown or two before it is all over.

Whoa, no way. Lombard is at the very top of the list. Everyone else is expendable.

Hard to believe they'd choose to go with just two QBs, one who's missed a year, and the other of whom has no experience, depending what happens from here on out this year (Zaire), plus a true freshman. Can't see them not bringing back Hendrix.

he was great on sp teams...but he has been horrible w/ missed tackles, out of placement and terrible angles...he is right up there w/ farley as the least impressive players this year...really really sucks to say because this kid seems like a real good kid/work ethic etc..but his play has been atrocious

I just feel like Collinsworth is a victim to having a year off due to injury. He just doesn't look the same and it's more than reasonable to understand why, sometimes it just takes more time to get up to the speed and physicality needed. Due to this, I believe, he will get a much better shot at 5th year.

the ****** thing is that he looks like he is giving 100% effort, but he is getting abused..i re-watch games throughout the week, my kids love it...and so i get opportunities to focus on players vs the game....and he is there in all of the plays but diving in missing the tackle, being taking out of play by a block and not shedding downfield or just getting turned every which way in passing...i feel bad and pissed at the same time......really hope that 5 year kicks in like harrison did

That "experience" was very useful when throwing grounders to Wideouts on Saturday

Yeah, he was pretty bad. I'm not saying he's Johnny Unitas, but he can manage a game, sometimes, and might save us from burning Kizer's red shirt.

The thing that worries me about letting Hendrix go is that if something happens to Golson we've got no one with any game experience. That's risky.

As for other 5Ys: Lombard's a two-year starter. I think he's back if he wants to no matter our OL depth. With our lack of ILBs - and Grace's injury - I think we need Moore back. It's always surprised me he hasn't done more, b/c he decapitates people on special teams. Collinsworth's borderline, might depend on how Shumate winds up the year and if we pull any more big-time safeties (JuJu Smith). Beyond that, meh. But we always wind up keeping more than you'd think.

There is almost a 0% chance Hendrix isn't asked back. You want 4 QBs. Going into a season with just 3 and 1 being true frosh with zero experience is a recipe for disaster if you get unlucky with injuries/violations/etc.
