ALL these guys are from California, 5 QBs from 1 state!!! Even if u assume USC, UCLA, and Stanford each get one and there are still two left to poach.

Dillman is from Sweden. Moved to CA to play HS ball as a freshman. Actually started a few games as a frosh. I wouldn't say we aren't even pursuing him. The coaches have been regular visitors at La Mirada HS, as I'm sure you know, and it's been known Dillman was one reason for those visits (as well as Luatua and Todd). I know Dillman personally. Definitely a RKG.

Sean Mele has been putting together a big board with ND's top targets. He recently released a "best bets" for offense and it's appalling. I don't know if we truly lead for a single player labeled as a "BEST BET".... maybe Corey Holmes.

As an aside, isn't it freaking weird that Kelly came to ND as a QB whisperer... a guy who took nobodies with little talent and made them dominant college players... and the QB position is one the one position that has been a mess since he got here? Not the defense that was awful under Weis... he turned that around in a jiffy. Not the positions with disastrous depth like CB... he plugged in a true frosh RB and boom... solid play. Literally every other position besides the one he was supposed to be the guru for is playing at a very high level. ND has always been the cradle of QBs capable of attracting that type of kid no matter... we were supposed to not be able to recruit the DL because kids from the south "don't like cold" and yet we have two 1st rounders from the south manning the trenches? What??

Inherited a 5... looked like he would play for a couple years and then we'd move on to his heir... and so on and so forth... and then injury, Tommy Rees, mental implosion, back to Tommy Rees, to RS frosh work-in-progress, and now back to Tommy Rees/Hendrix... with potentially only 1 scholarship QB on the roster next year if we don't get multiple people in this class or get Hendrix to stick around.

I mean seriously... what the ****? It's just a disaster. There is no way of sugar coating it we basically need 1-2 QBs in this class (which is God awful for QBs) or a transfer into the program of some sort.

The offensive skill position recruiting in this cycle is going to be really interesting to watch moving forward.

You brought up an old post of his trying to prove to everyone that TP was right again and you were wrong! so yep you're right I'm so jealous of that.

I for the most part have ZERO problem w/ TP. I have a problem with those that think he knows everything and so some sort of God. You came to this thread for the sole purpose of bragging about TP, and you couldn't even do that right

I got the dates mixed up, so I was absolutely wrong. I have no problem admitting that. Why you take such pleasure in that is beyond me, but whatever. I don't memorize recruiting, so I messed up. BFD. All you had to do was tell me that. Instead, you were a douche about it, for absolutely no reason.

And you do have a problem with TP...he knows it, you know it, and anyone who reads your posts knows it. You have taken shots at him quite a few times. Don't act like you haven't. Unlike you and I, he takes the high road and doesn't say ****.

TP does know a ton. You've exhibited jealousy of that in the past, as judged by your posts. He told me about some of those June visits quite awhile ago, but didn't want to go public with it b/c when/if things change, guys like you are waiting in the woodworks to kill him on it. All I can tell you is that he is legit (first time I met up with him, he was at a bar with Christian from ISD, James Onwalu's older brother and Chris Brown's dad. At one of the practices, couple of the players came up and gave him dabs...I'm horrible with faces but one of them had Scott Daly's number on his jersey LOL) and I have countless anecdotes that prove it.

Seriously. This has puzzled me ever since Kelly started. How did he get 4 QBs ready to play during a single season in his last year at Cincy, but he hasn't been able to get Tommy Rees to avoid beating his own team with turnovers in 3 years? It makes you wonder if he just had a bizarre embarrassment of riches at QB when he was at Cincy.

On the other hand, that was his third year in the program. Last year, in Kelly's third year at ND, he showed signs of being that guy. He used two QBs pretty effectively to go undefeated in the regular season. He knew he had a strong D and he didn't ask his QBs to do too much. Other than the Pitt game, Tommy was much better in his limited action. Maybe we need to give BK more credit for all that.

Dayne, Andrew and seemingly Gunner all have shown (to this point) a fatal flaw for QBs that really can't be coached - a lack of on-field confidence. They could have all the physical tools in the world and be fluent in the X's and O's, but if you don't have total belief in yourself out there at that position, you are never going to be successful on the level we want (and need).

BK inherited Tommy, and I think has maximized his ceiling at ND. Tommy has physical limitations that are well documented, but through his own hard work and BK's coaching, he has become an extremely confident and heady QB. I hate to use the term game manager, but the way that term is used now is a perfect description for what he brings to the table. With the rest of the talent ND has amassed on both sides of the ball recently, that should be enough to win 9-10 games a year.

We obviously want to take the next step, and I believe Golson and Zaire reflect that. They both are extremely self confident with immense physical tools. I think Golson really turned it on late last year, and showed that he could be a special QB at ND as a RS freshman. It is simply a shame that his own mistake will cost him and us the opportunity to see him build off of that this year.

Because of what was here when BK walked in, and the incidents with Gunner and Golson, I think the true effectiveness as BK as a QB guru has yet to be fully seen by ND faithful, unfortunately. But if there is one area where I have no doubts BK can coach someone up to be an effective player, it is at that position. Just wish the cupboard looked different during his early years here.

Just the way I see it. Hopefully we start seeing more on the field proof going forward.

Crist, Rees and Hendrix weren't 'his guys'. Rees, well, you could say he molded that kid, with not much talent, into a 14-4 QB, as well as a helluva closer last year. That is pretty shocking. Hendrix, he hasn't been able to do much with. Crist, he was damaged goods and just not a good fit for Kelly's playing AND coaching style.

Golson...BK did a great job assessing his talent and getting him to flip from UNC. Is it on him that he got caught cheating more than once? Kiel...he went for the star rating, but did Kelly do a good job judging the tenacity of Kiel? I'd say that's a resounding no. I'd say Kelly did a poor job assessing Kiel's talent, but that's just me.

Zaire looks to be a great fit so far. He missed on Allen, which really hurts.

I'd say BK has done a couple of REALLY good things (getting wins out of Rees, the handling of Golson/Rees last year, the development of Golson) has made some bad mistakes, and has been snake-bitten as well.

I'd say BK has done a couple of REALLY good things (getting wins out of Rees, the handling of Golson/Rees last year, the development of Golson) has made some bad mistakes, and has been snake-bitten as well.

The bolded is just as much Bobby Diaco as it is Kelly, IMO.

I think those injuries just started to get into Crist's head. Trying to make a play and having to think about his injury at the same time has got to be tough.

Can't fault BK for the Golson situation. As for Kiel, I think it was more of trying to fit a square peg (Kiel's strongest talents) into a round hole (BK's gameplan).

To me, money for money, BK is Top 3 in terms of coaching ability. We are going to have a combo of Rees/Hendrix this season at QB and I still feel like we can get to 9-10 wins. How much of that is on the D which looks to be even better then last seasons? IDK but I think the WR/RB/OL situation is as good as it's been in some time as a whole and is in a position where it can offset the loss of EG enough to make this year still a successful one.

I would like to think it's been a string of bad luck for Kelly at the QB position with injury, mental fortitude issues, and academics but it is currently a disturbing trend none the less.

Tough to predict who is next. My guesses are Matt Nelson, Corey Holmes and Andrew Williams. I also have a feeling, if offered, Isaiah McKenzie could commit soon (my definition, not EV's) thereafter.

Do you guys think we head into the season with 17 commits like last year? Earlier in the spring I thought we'd be on the 2013 pace, but the more I look at the board the less confident I feel in that. We are after so many high profile guys that are not making pre-season commitments. Of course it doesn't matter how many we have by September. The only thing that counts is who signs on Feb 5, 2014 AND shows up for the summer.
