ND need playmakers at WR in a bad way. Toma has proved he can make plays but he has yet to even get consistent PT. TJ is the same way but he just needs to find the fine line of consistency. TJ can make plays and I personally feel is still underrated but yet he has never shown he can break out. He is perfectly fine in his role where he gets 6-8TDs a year but his potential can be so much higher if he finds it. I do feel that with a Golson/Hendrix TJ's game does make a larger impact in the offense. Rees isnt a downfield QB, TJ is a work in space WR. Not a blazer but he isnt a kid that works the sideline or the 6-10yrd routes. He is kid that needs to get downfield or work in space. Davaris is the most athletic WR that the coaching staff has ever coached is the word, but hes never played a down. Goodman is just Goodman. I really don't feel like wasting time on Daniel Smith, although i hope he proves me wrong.
Ferg, CB, Neal all are types of players that arent on NDs roster. all 3 bring certain qualities that ND hasnt had. Ferg can be your sideline, middle field guy. CB can be your downfield guy as well as the slot against LB/S. Neal well is just a kid we havent had in the past other than Golden. And none of the 3 have played a down.
Having too many playmakers is never a bad thing ala usc/oregon/fla....if you get talent, talent will find the field, talent will find the ball, and the ball will find the endzone. Treadwell, LaRue they want to come you take them.
But as of right now I think we need CB/LB/WR/TE/DE for quality depth. Like I stated last night in a few threads Niklas and Collinsworth more than likely wont be here and ND needs to get guys to step this year and next year step up behind them. Depth is important in building a program and that is what Kelly is doing.
